What did you think of kimmie?

Yesterday while flipping through a magazine, I saw Kimmie's under armour add. At first I didn't recognize her. Anyway, I know they photoshop the heck out of those things....but she was so muscular in the ad. If that's not too photo shopped...then she really built some major muscle mass since winning the world championships. I suspect that this is what is causing her so many problems. Hopefully she will be able to figure out how to skate with her new body!!

with all her edge calls & her slow speed??? Yeah, sure.

Kimmie's jumps were no better than Zhang's. Her spins and spirals are also far weaker and she isn't a good enough of a performer to make up for that deficit. Zhang was the best at 2007 Skate America.

that is your opinion. Others have their opinions. C'est la vie. :)

She might also want to make sure she's not over-training if her increased muscle mass is a detriment rather than an asset to her skating.

and why is skating judged again? ;)

Anyway, IMO the right person won that event. Zhang will get her opportunity later.

If anyone is making any unsourced comments about steroid use about any skater, such a comment would be hidden as quickly as the mods discover it.

Please refer to the Guidelines about unsourced gossip about skaters.

There should be none.

I hope we are not saying that Kimmie is on stereoids? That would be ludicrous.

Nope..I was just staying that she has really built some muscle since she was the little pixie that won the worlds...I never mentioned steroids and I would never imply that she was using them!! I was just saying that her body really has changed!! That's all!!! Yikes...didn't want to start a problem here. I was just mentioning this because it's hard to see a figure skater and there muscles on television while skating...but in this ad you really see it. Muscle mass changes your body and perhaps this stronger body of hers is what is causing her to have some problems with the rotation of her jumps!!

Her body composition has changed a lot in the past two years. I haven't seen the ad that you're referring to, but I'm pretty sure that what you see is (pretty much) what you get. Her legs are noticably thicker - all becuase of added muscle mass. Her arms and back are also more muscular lately, and she's also developed hips and a chest. Whether those combined effects are The Cause, no one can say but her, but I'm sure it has contributed to her performance in some manner.

Well, I certainly didn't expect her to medal or to finish top 5 given the season she has had, but I was glad and relieved to see her skate a relatively clean SP and to see the improvement in her presentation in comparison to years past. It's good to see that she is trying to become more of a musical skater and to hold her positions better and utilize her body more sensibly. I was really surprised to see her miss the Salchow in the LP because she usually has no trouble with the edge jumps, but a definite improvement over Nationals, IMO. A 7th place finish was a little better than what I had predicted for her, but she did not have a very impressive point total at all. Good luck to her next season . . . I hope to see her regroup, but she definitely has her work cut out for her! :) If she stays positive, trains really hard, and regains her confidence, I think she can make a successful comeback. I'd love to see Rachael Flatt and a reinvigorated Kimmie make the US World Team for 2009.

Zhang CRAWLED across the ice. And her edges are the weakest I've seen from a senior lady in a long time.
