I have to say I become a fan of him. His National's LP and MK's are the two LP I would keep rewind when I watch that tape.

He is so fluid with the musical. His whole body and skates moves with the musical so well. And the edge quality like a butter. I don't care if he dose not have or try a quad. His whole program just singing...................................inginginginging!

IMO his LP was undermarked in both Nats and 4CC. I would give him 6.0 for presentation instead of JW. He has better edge quality than JW. Not to mistake JW deserve his title and with a quad JW will be US men's future.

I can appreciate his flow and line, I think those are beautiful. But for me, he's like Matt Savoie, rather boring. I guess to each their own.

He's very musical and likes to interpret the music in a very interesting way. When the music is "fun sounding", he will skate to it in a "fun" way. See his 03 Nats short program. :)

OK, serious question here -- what would Ryan and Matt have to do to become less "boring"? Is it a matter of quads, or music/program choices that are not to your liking, or the fact that they haven't been promoted much as personalities the way some other skaters have been? Or something else?

He's on my list as one of those 'nice' skaters who, when he is 'on' give a better than average performance. In fact, when his is 'on' he can be challenging.

I loved his LP at Campbell's because I saw it live! Ryan has nice lines in his skating. He has reminded me somewhat, but not too much, of Paul Wylie (who I have also seen live at least once). Now if only I could have seen the same at (I mean if I had been there) Nationals.

I don't like Jahnke's programs at all this season. He was enjoyable last season, because he could actually perform his programs believably. This season, his programs are :sheesh: to me. He's trying too hard to be "different" and isn't succeeding. The music just seems to brush over him, and he seems very disconnected.

Give me Matt Savoie anyday!

I think he's probably a great guy... he seems to have a nice personality... but his programs bore me

however I LIKE Savoie ;)

I love Ryan Jahnke! He really is one of the most talented skaters I've seen- at least artistry wise. I think his LP is the most brilliantly choreographed and performed (at 4CC and US nationals) I've seen this season. Cinderella was nice, but this one is just a masterpiece. He has such a lightness and sensitivity in his skating and the way the moves. I just love watching him. This season he's finally landing the 3axel with some consistency that hopefully judges will start taking his skating seriously.
I simply can't wait to see what he and Tom Dickson are going to come up with for next season! And the same goes for Matt Savoie too, whom I hope will finally get a new long program next season, and hopefully it will be as incredible as his SP this season  Dickson by the way, is a total genius. He makes the audience listen to the music in a different way with the moves that he designs for a particular phrase/beat of the music. The sensitivity he brings to his choreography sort of reminds me of David Wilson, but in a more "off beat" or "abstract" way. It appears to me that his choreo is almost "experimental" in a way. I only feel blessed to have seen the works of these gifted choreographers.

I can understand why you say Savoie is boring. Since he was ' facial expressionless' when he was skating. Though I like Savoie's skating long before this season. IMO he has the most classic style, the real stuff. I was rooting for Savoie at Nats and hope he got to go the worlds. I got my wish. But the other half of me would've like to see Jahnke beating MW as well, but this way Savoie would've lost the world team berth. Oh well nothing is perfect. LOL.

Yeah, I was so torn between Matt and Ryan watching US Nationals. My heart really wanted Matt to get the spot (just for all the sh*tty wuzrobbed that he had to go through in the previous seasons + the injury), but I think Ryan deserved to make the team with that performance. I'd have him 2nd in the free skate and 3rd overall, and Matt 4th in the free and 4th overall. But then, I'm still happy that at least one of them is going :) And hopefully, hopefully, both will make the world team together one day.

If Matt would break out into a big smile when taking his bows I think it would improve his ice persona, ala Todd Eldredge. It wouldn't hurt if he would smile during a performance but I don't think that is Matt. As a longtime Eldredge fan, you know that I love Matt & appreciate his seriousness & style.
As to Jahnke, I suppose you could say I burned out on him. I waited & waited for him to become consistent & eventually other skaters became more interesting & exciting for me. I do not care for Ryan's long program. I'd like to see him do something lighter & more carefree.

I think Ryan Jahnke has the total package, huge jumps, great flow and edges, and good presentation. He is undermarked. I feel he should be at least 2nd at the National. He is a true skater with great dance ability.

I think Ryan Jahnke is one of the most talented best skaters in the world. He is my favorite skater in the world also. (heehee)
His programs are so unique and he works so hard to make them interesting and so enjoyable and his choreography is amazing. I thought he deserved to be on the world team with his perfromance at nationals this year, i would have loved to see him be in the top 3:(
He is the most dedicated skater I've ever seen. His edge quality is SO amazing to. I just LOVE watching him skate! he is such a good role model in every way!!!
GO RYAN!!! :D :)

Just because he doesn't smile much, it doesn't mean he is a "serious" skater. None of his programs have rang "serious" to me...

Someone asked me what Jahnke and Savoie could do to be more exciting for me to watch. Well, Savoie could show SOME emotion on the ice. Jahnke at least can do that. Last year, Jahnke was more watchable to me because it looked as if he were enjoying himself more. But for both of them, TO ME, (Meaning MY opinion, meaning I'm NOT bashing them) being on the ice seems to be "taking care of business". They're punching the clock, doing what they need to do. But I don't see a lot of excitement, joy, or happiness in what they're doing, for either of them. Whether it is the program, the music, or their personalities, neither does anything for me. No harm, no foul.

He is not boring to watch. Ryan Jahnke skated very solid well packed program. Unfortunately he always has to be put below someone who has much smaller jumps, has much worse edges, and no flows, and who was always lucky enough to get 1st or 2nd
depending one skater beat another skater.

I haven't seen much from Jahnke, but from what I did see, he also falls under the 'boring' category for me. It doesn't have anything to do with being consistent or not, because many inconsistent skaters are very exciting to watch, but it seems like there's something missing, some spark. He really doesn't do much for me. Maybe it's a matter of taste.
