Jeni turned pro due to injury.
I had heard that Sydne was trying to make a come back. Id never heard that she skates for germany. I wonder how that came about.

She has German ancestry. She is spending one year in Germany, not competing (ISU rules) so that next year, she will be able to compete for Germany.

Sydne Vogel update
I've liked Sydne Vogel from the first time I saw her skate a number of years ago, so I notice her name when I see it mentioned. From what I can piece together, I think she has ended her competitive career.
Sydne placed third at Skate America, 1996, and won the Junior World Championships in 1997. She was then plagued with injuries and other hurdles.

The comeback continued with Sydne placing 2nd at the 2002 Northwest Pacific Regionals (in October 2001). She withdrew from the long program at the 2002 Pacific Coast Sectionals (in November 2001). She had finished 8th in the short program.
The next time I saw her name, she was moving to Germany to train with Michael Huth (Carolina Kostner's coach) in Oberstdorf and skate for Germany. She did compete at the German Nationals in January 2003, and, as tdnuva pointed out, she placed 15th.
Based on little comments in the German magazine, Eissport (http://www.eissport-magazin.de/start.htm), I've come to the conclusion that she didn't stay in Germany very long. She was supposed to compete in the Bavarian Championships in February 2003 but was called home to Alaska for a family emergency. She did not make it back to Germany for the DEU-Cup in March 2003, which she had entered. I don't think she returned to Germany. At least, when her coach was asked about her at a summer training session, he said he hadn't heard from her since April.
As RealtorGal pointed out, she is listed among the coaches for the Chelsea Piers summer camp. And I've also found her listed as a coach at her home rink in Alaska:

I think the website is current, in which case the following is relevant: "Sydne is a member of the Athlete Advisory Committee for the United States Figure Skating Association, and is currently a full time student at the University of Alaska, Anchorage. We Welcome Sydne to our skating staff at Ben Boeke Ice Arena."
I certainly wish her all the best as she moves to a new stage of her career. She clearly still loves skating!
