Does anyone know when the skaters are leaving for Worlds? How much time will they need to get accustomed to the time change?

good question, i don't know

if i was a competitor, I'd leave a week ahead - to get mentally and physically ready and comfortable to foreign land.....but maybe they are all used to the change and etc....

Johnny has been training in Moscow since last week in order to get accustomed to the time difference. He arrives in Sweden on Tuesday.

figures... any excuse to go to russia.

I hear that Frank and Evan are leaving on Friday, and there was a rumor that Bebe has already left, but she was at the rink tuesday, so I don't know what the reality is with her.

I think they should be there to get aclimatized to Sweden, and to get some practice in the arena if possible.

Joe

I don't think you can practice in the arena other than at official practice sessions.

Virtue and Moir are leaving on Friday.

Many of the Worlds skaters who I train with have returned "home" and are skating at their home rinks up until this week, and going to Sweden this week.

Fuji-TV here now showed Yu-Na at the airport with Orser, leaving Korea earlier today (Far East Time).

Skaters can get to Goteborg a week ahead of time, but if they do, they will have to pay for their own food, lodging and ice time. The ISU will pay only for the period beginning with dinner on Saturday, March 15th, through lunch on Monday, March 24. Official practices start on Sunday, March 16th.

There's no real necessity for arriving too early, unless the venue is at altitude and the skater is unaccustomed to skating at high altitude. Goteborg is at 16' above sea level, so no problem there.

Just now Fuji-TV news showed Mao leaving for Sweden more than 6 hours ago.
Mao expressed her determination to display everything she has been practicing.

So she will miss the practice today in Scandinavium.

Two of Johnny's Angels are now reporting that he's arrived in Goteburg, so it looks like he traveled a day earlier than initially planned.

The French dance and pairs teams as well as the ladies have been in Sweden since Saturday. Yannick Ponsero was to arrive this afternoon, Alban Preaubert this evening, and Brian Joubert is due to arrive tomorrow.
