Which skaters seem to really enjoy skating?

He seemed happy even after not doing his best at CoR, if you compare that to Evan's face at the CoC medal ceremony where he looked close to a tantrum it was pretty funny. I think that's real love; when you're still smiling on the 2nd or 3rd place spot on the podium. He may be my favorite, but I don't think Johnny really loves it all that much. If he did it wouldn't take a "scary coach" to get him motivated.

Evan close to a tantrum..., we definetely have not watched the same medal ceremony, LOL. I think that both Lambiel and Lysacek looked a bit serious, but there is nothing wrong with that, in my opinion.

Past: Kwan-who can deny the look of joy on her face when she spirals
across the ice.

Present: Ashley Wagner her exuberance on the ice is infectious.
Tomas Verner especially his exhibitions skates.

I think Johnny was more in love with figure skating when he first started, the look on his face after his free skate at 2001 nationals was priceless. I think he started losing some of that love as he felt more pressure to win. Hopefully some of that love is returning now that he's made some changes in his coaching and personal life.

Mao seems to love:love: to skate.

Mao used to love to skate. This season I can't see it. She is beautiful to watch and I love her skating this year, but she looks like she is under a lot of pressure..I don't see the girlish joy like I used to.

Anyway, as for skaters who do look like they love thier job:

Belbin and Agosto

Patrick Chan

Ashley Wagner

Marai Nagasu

Bebe Liang

Joannie Rochette

Sometimes it's hard to differentiate between those who like to skate and those who like to compete. For example, I think Kulik loves skating whereas Yagudin loves competing.

That's a good point! I think that those who want to be a top skater need to like both. Otherwise, it's going to be pain to compete.

Yagudin and Irina Slutskaia!
i reallt linek see them skating they looks alwaya as they have a lot of fun and also Sokolova, when i see the i'd like to put on my skates( unfotunatly i'm not so good on ice:rofl:)

With another season or two under the work of Japanese media/public, Mao just might become today's miki.

On the pairs front...

Gordeeva and Grinkov - more in the "love to skate" versus "love to compete" although they were no doubt great competitors as well.

Shen and Zhao - They fall into the category of "love to skate" AND "love to compete."

(Isn't it interesting that both of these couples wound up falling in love?)

I find that Jamie Salé & David Pelletier have the love to skate - after the controversy of the Olympics, they continued to skate, as if yes there was an unfortunate event but they moved on and still skate for the love of it, and the love of performing...

Kypma

From the past:
Josee Chouinard
Yagudin
Rudy Galindo
Tara Lapinski
Nicole Bobek

Currently:
Ryan Bradley
Emily Hughes - although more focused and determined than joyful
Braden Overett
I honestly cant think of a lady right now who is a performer/artist that is endearing or looks like she is joyful. Maybe that is why it has become so boring to watch.

I think the absolute top of the list would have to be Scott Hamilton, followed by Kurt Browning. Even today their enthusaism is contagious. Scott just cracks me up when he commentates. He gets so excited he sounds like a kid!! On Olympic Ice he was a riot. And his programs when he skated were fabulously entertaining.

Paul Wylie is another one. I guess that is because he is my all time favorite skater. I liked the way he portrayed all of those movies and characters and he really looked like he enjoyed sharing his talent with the audience. There was pure joy on his face. I enjoy his commentating too. He always has good things to say about the skaters. I met him at Worlds in 2003 and he is such a nice person.

This will probably sound odd because it doesn't seem so right now, but I am going to say Evan Lysacek. He doesn't look as he did two years ago, especially when he skated Singin in the Rain. He was just a kid still wet behind the ears then. Now he is a serious competitor who considers skating his job, but he loves it nontheless. He would be lost without it. I wish he could lighten up more too. At least he had a blast with his INXS program on tour. But in competitions he is now dead serious. But he is the nicest person when you meet him and he absolutely loves to work with kids.

I would have to go with Kurt Browning too. He continues to skater all the time in like every show. He does commentary and it is all over the place.

I agree with most everyone who has been mentioned, but I would like to add Midori Ito to the list. There have been more than a few times when I have cheered myself up after being depressed by watching her performances on YouTube. To me, her joy was contagious.

Why no one votes for Midori Ito?

Hey ! Everyone I am back!

I also went to Rokkefeller ice rink! The christmas tree was very beautiful! I will share some photos with you later if you are interested!
