Will we have the first underaged champion?!?!

Back to the original question, will an underage girl win Nationals? There is an old expression in boxing - "To beat the champion, you have to knock him out." To take the title away from Kimmie, skating better is not enough. Some girl would have to be so much better, that someone who didn't know COP would be sure she had won. That's asking a great deal.

Just to clarify - I was referring to the idea of totally repealing the age rule, not "making exceptions", which would be drastically outrageous and wrong. And, I should add, "grandfathering" is not the same as "making an exception". Tara Lipinski and Sarah Hughes both benefited from "grandfathering" because of prior appearances, but that was not the same thing as "making an exception" for Mao Asada or now, Caroline Zhang just because those two are extraordinarily talented.

I felt like the only one who wanted Mao to go to Calgary Worlds but everyone insisted Rules can not be broken. At the time I thought that was a Worlds rule and I was also informed that Japan voted for the restriction. I was ok with all of that.

But now, the GP age versus the ISU major comps restrictions comes to question. Why not formalize the whole thing? And hopefully let the public know the rationalization of it.

Caroline Zhang was not the only underaged skater who competed in the GP. Vera Bazarova (Bazarova/Larionov [RUS]) and Keauna McLaughlin (McLaughlin/Brubaker [USA]) are also underaged. Interesting that all of them won at least one medal in the GP, and two made it to the GPF.

The podium could look like this:
1) Zhang
2) Nagasu
3) Wagner

If Kimmie sucks as bad as she did at the GPF.

You're right - it could, but I'm feeling Kimmie is enough of a competitor to get her game together for Nationals.

Am really hoping that all skate their best and the scores reflect the performances.

How funny, thats EXACTLY what my boyfriend says. Its my fear that they are going to place lower PCS on the underage girls since they can fiddle with that alittle. That way an eligible girl would place higher and it wouldnt look bad that the champion wasnt going to worlds. I hope the judges are accurate and honest with their scores.

But I could sooo see Caroline or Mirai beating Kimmie this season IF scores were done honestly, but the pressure could get to the girls. Its definately up in the air. I cant wait:rock::clap:
