(I've been in two car accidents that destroyed both cars and one shattered a store glass window my car was pushed through. Both times I crawled out of the wreckages without assistance and without a scratch. A tiny bruise on a kneecap from the steering column of one. Luck inherited from my grandfather, I guess. He fought the whole four years of WW1 in the trenches and was never even slightly wounded, ill, or suffered any emotional trauma afterwards.)

In my case, I was the front seat passenger, and it cost me 6 months hospitalization, so many surgeries plus 2 years rehabilitation to finally return to function simple daily life like a normal person. Healing the mind/soul/heart took much longer since it ended my beloved lifetime job/career (ballet).
These days I'm all back to normal since this is 13 years ago talk, thankfully. I absolutely love cars and love driving them (much more than being a passenger, for obvious reasons).
