Words and rhyme - game

We used to have a weeping willow
in our yard
I've never been able to put on a blade guard
while still standing on the ice

(Not even while clutching the boards with the other hand for balance. Some skaters can, the rest of us....splat. If you watch a group coming off the ice after the warm-up, you'll see some do , some don't. It's not random, they either can or can't.)

And never eat poutines
before exercising!
In Scotland on Hallowe'en, children go "guising",
dressing up and performing a song or poem to get a treat.

[The origin of North American trick-or-treating. When my Aberdonian father was 7, he was allowed to take his 5-year-old brother out with him. They stopped first at their next-door neighbours and Daddy sang a song. Mrs Muir gave him a handful of taffy pieces. Then Uncle Andrew told a joke. Mrs Muir asked him where he'd learned it, and he said he'd heard Mr Muir telling it to my grandfather and the men had laughed and laughed. She gave him his taffy and suggested Andrew should instead sing something like his big brother had "because you've got such a sweet voice". As they turned away, they heard her back in her house shouting "Will-IAM!" :giggle:]

Did you find a feather
in the grass?

(To answer your question in the last post, "No," if it has been outrageously hot for a long, long time. On our most recent trip to Arizona in September 2024, our relatives were grateful for temps that finally got down to the high 90's, Farhenheit, after about three months of 110+ days!)

Long ago (when I was a kid) you had to receive a Pass
in a level of school figures before you were allowed to advance to the next freeskating grade!

[Many talented free skaters never got to compete at all because they couldn't pass the same test level in figures :cry3:]

🥵 That sounds like hell on earth to me! I'm miserable when the temperature gets up to the low 80s in Fahrenheit. One of the reasons I love to skate is being in that cold arena for hours at a time. I have a friend living in Colorado, up in the mountains, who frequently writes that she's visited her sister in Arizona again for a few days "just to warm up and revive". I tell her she must be part snake or lizard to enjoy basking in such heat. She just laughs and says I must be part polar bear or snow leopard 🐻‍❄️

Have some fun
this summer!

(In elementary school, my favorites were music class & spelling. In High School, French)

Pairs often have to trade

Did you know that elephants
walk silently because, like cats, they walk on their toes? 🐘🐈

[My partner and I have to spin slowly because, thanks to my chronic sinusitis, if I spin quickly for the duration of several position changes, I get vertigo, although I have no problem with two or three fast revolutions in other elements. He goes along with this amiably, but has been known to make snoring noises during SBS spins :bed:]
