does anybody speak russian here? i want to know what tarasova was saying towards the end of caroline's program. she sounded pissed off and indignant, but i guess that's tarasova's way of gushing about caroline's pearl spin?
ahahahahahaha.

Yes, she was gushing. She said "if that doesn't deserve a bonus (GoE), I don't know what does!".
She always gushes about CZ quite a lot, her sentimental favourite, I guess.

I don't know if TT's gushing about Caroline has anything to do with sentimentality. Maybe TT just recognizes and appreciates talent when she sees it. :)

The analyst in Canada, on Canal Évasion, Alain Golbert is always ''gushing'' on Caroline's skating. He is amazed by her skating !!!

He seems upset about the way that the judges are trying every thing to detect an error from her skating.

I love CZ's skating very much, but Shubert's music is more of an exhibition piece than a competitor's piece. JMO. I think she should try a bit of baroque with Vivaldi - that would get her moving.

Caroline's EX has no jumps! Maybe her injuries were quite serious after all? Thank goodness her season is over!

True but it is more of a challenge than the other warhorses. I think Caroline should give some of MK's music prior to 2002 a try. Love to see her do East of Eden.

That I definitely agree with. I can see Caroline having a lovely program with that music. However I want her to stay away from using too much music that has been used by others or even MK. I think that was one of my favorite things about MK prior to 2002, if I'm not mistaken. Generally, the music MK skated to hadn't been used a thousand times; it was more or less unknown in the skating world. That's what I want to see from Caroline in terms of music; also, it would be a good move to not do any more (or a lot) of really soft, "princessy" music, if that makes sense.

I think soft, lyrical music is going to be a good bet for Caroline unless she can get more speed and power in her stroking. Powerful music would just out-skate her and just underscore her weakness.

That's kind of what I'm thinking. But obviously she needs to develop more speed and power, and I think stronger music would challenge and motivate her to do so. I loved her SP this year because it's not soft and lyrical.
Mostly I just want her to reach out of her comfort zone-which is the soft, lryical music.

I had read a lot of complaints about Caroline's speed after Nationals. After half a dozen comments, I was like, yes she was a bit slow, but it's not like she was skating to "Disco Inferno". I think her perceived slowness is just her skating to the music.

It’s like those people wanted Caroline to rocket around the ice like Apolo Ohno while Ave Maria is playing. :sheesh:

Slow music doesn't have to mean slow skating. Berezhnaya and Sikharulidze were definitely not slow in either one of their programs at SLC, and they skated to lyrical pieces in both programs and performed them beautifully.

I think Caroline's speed seemed much better here, though. Her mule-kick has gotten less offensive, her 3-3 is better than ever and I can't see significant UR on the loop, either.

Yes, there's a difference between "soft and lyrical" and "slow." If music is VERY slow, or if it sort of meanders, then the skater has to have a lot of speed and ice coverage to keep people's attention. This is the only reason Savchenko & Szolkowy managed to succeed with their slow, monotonous music this season.
And I agree that Caroline's jumping technique--particularly on the lutz--has improved a lot since the beginning of the season.
