I really don't like the music. I hope the FS is closer to Manfred Symphony. I want Russian drama, not North American cheese.

I didn't get very far, to be honest - the singing... I can wait to watch this in competition with better video - there's no point in me watching when it's difficult for me to see what is going on when I don't care for the music. If it had been only music, though, I would still have watched it, but... again... the singing... sigh. This is why I'm not a fan of the new vocals rule.

I don't mind vocals in general, but this song is just bad, bad, bad. It's SO cheesy, the sort of song that would be played at a couple's wedding reception for their first dance. It just feels wrong for K/S, especially since I think of them as an edgier, more dramatic couple.

Fingers crossed that their LP delivers. I just really don't get this SP and I'm not optimistic that it will grow on me with time--though of course I'll give it a shot.

I love the song & usually like the cheese & it looks super airy Imo they ned to change from DRAMA to some light fare from time to time
Maybe having a light prog may help them to feel less pressure on ice

But with it it feels like an EX to me
Imo it will be changed just like the costumes.

I'm not against a lighter program, but a schmaltzy Bryan Adams ballad of all things does not suit them in the least. Maybe it would be ok for a gala program (the kind I use as a restroom break ) but for competition, no. They are so much better than that.

If they wanted to use Streisand, why not "The Way We Were" or "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" or something like that? Still schmaltzy, but at least they are classic songs. This song just sounds cheap and utterly forgettable.

"You Don't Bring Me Flowers" sounds good as a choice, but "The Way We Were" has been done a number of times. Dube / Davidson used it for the Vancouver Olympic season.

How about "No More Tears (Enough is Enough)", the duet Babs did with Donna Summer, as a disco number?

I like that they're going more contemporary but they'll need more choreography for expression because Babs and Bryan do a lot of call-and-answer and dialogue in the song itself, so it "sounds" busy.

Here's a forgotten song she did for "The Prince of Tides" in 1991. It's a lovely ballad that seems to have gotten lost in the Streisand canon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVlC3TRL1Tw - Yuko and Sasha can do well with it, it's (somewhat) less schmaltzy.

Afer Manfred the expectations for them crose considerably so please Peter & tamara! Make something new!

Alex says that he & Yuko didnt have doubts about staying in the sport & get that some pairs come back & some learn new difficult elements & they get it will be more difficult than last year but they want to calmly prepare.
They want to take part in comps pre GP like Saransk & if there will be opportunities in SPb they won't miss it. Condition - no long distance flights

I agree, they need something with more impact. I don't expect every program to be super heavy like MS, but the pairs field will be so strong this year, they need to stand out or I fear they won't get many more chances.

Exactly. I also worry that neither their choice for SP, nor the idea to re-use an LP from their "golden age" (or any LP) will help them attain the podium. Why set themselves up for a disadvantage?

I think you're right . But there's so much American popular music to choose from - as well as beautiful classical music for the LP.
