YuNa Kim injured?

I've read reports that Yu-Na has been working hard on her triple loop, because that's the one jump she hasn't been able to land consistently. You have to wonder if repetitive practice on this jump--which is very hard on the hip--has something to do with her injury.

Oh not NOT FAIR!!!!

Poor thing, will she ever have a break from injuries? I just hope she is in top shape for worlds.

It would seem unfair if Yu-na cannot skate her best at Worlds. This year really seemed like her year to shine! She was looking so strong and invincible during the GP season, with her powerful jumps and polished programs, and strong coaching/support team. With all the reports on how much stronger and healthier she is compared to last season, probably most of us thought/hoped that her injury troubles are behind her...

I thought she would be injury-free all season. How wishful was I! She doesn't owe anything, and she has nothing to prove. I wish her quick recovery.

YuNa Kim injured

This is a shame. I just love YuNa's skating. I like her best among the competitors. However having said that, I wouldn't mind seeing Mao on top of the podium. I also love her skating and think she is deserving to win Worlds. I am hoping one of them will win this year.

I must admit, I have been very disappointed at the world ladies champion for the past several years. This is not to take away from their talent and achievements in any way. They are just not my cup of tea.

Dizzy

A web-news in Japan said three hours ago that the KSU announced Yuna's withdrawal officially.
I'm so disappointed to know this. Yuna's fans in Japan, as well as figure skating fans here in general, will be disappointed for sure. :frown: And I feel so much for Yuna who chose 4CC after long consideration...
I'm kind of depressed. BFY should be way more so.
Yuna's back problem will never be cured 100%. ...
Has it anything to do with her intervertebral disks?
(I have a bit of such problem and this DOES affect hip joint doing compensation.)
...I just wish all the best for her.
Me too.

ETA: The news here also says that, in that KSU announcement, it is said that Yuna's gala performance will be considered if her injury recovers. BFY you should stop KSU from letting Yuna perform gala. It's against ISU rules, and what's more, people will think that Yuna could have competed but withdrew just for the preparation for the Worlds.

I am so saddened to hear this unfortunate news. :frown::cry: Yu-Na is my favorite for World gold this year in the ladies' and I hope she is able to receive all the treatment and intensive physical therapy necessary to feel good enough to be ready and compete at Worlds. Her overall solid, beautiful skating and correct technique is most deserving of that World gold and I really hope she is able to go for it. I'd love to see her make a full recovery from her injuries because her safety and health must come first. She doesn't owe me as a fan anything . . . seeing her skate is reward enough, but only if she is healthy and able to do so. Get well soon, Yu-Na, you are in my thoughts and I wish you only the best!!

I think it likely that it would have something to do with her injury -- look at Tara Lipinski, for example -- and Michelle Kwan got an extra year out of her torn hip by dropping that jump entirely.

Get well soon, Yu-Na!

Good grief another injury for YuNa, poor girl. I hope it is not to serious.

I am really not in the position to discuss Yu Na's particular problem because I am not her doctor or physio and in no way am I implying that my problem is the same as hers. However, I have had left sacroiliac joint pain several times in my life from jumping and landing at a complete stand still. Fortunately, everytime the problem was resolved with physio and rest, but it was painful to walk during that time.

I agree. My first impression was "?" It doesn't make much sense to skip the competition and attend the gala when they mention heavy pain as the reason for her withdrawal. Her gala attendance will only complicate the situation even if it is meant to be for the fans' sake. Besides, she will have to have jet lag to deal with. I hope that they don't go for that.
In any case, her absence will be really a big dissapointment not only for Yuna but also for her competitors.

No, it is not that serious. The 2 week's rest recommended by doctor ends before the Gala performance. So, theoretically, she can perform. But, of course, she can not compete because she is not practicing now.

However, I also hope that she focuses on recovery.

She wrote her feeling about the injury in her blog. She says it is no serious at all. For those who may be interested in it, the translation is

Yuna's message

I translated Yuna's message from her blog into english.
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, I was never good at translation.
Thank god her injury doesn't seem to be serious.

Right now I'm not sure whether she will skate in exhibition, but I think it's not against the rules if the skater is from the hosting country. Yuna has already done it before back in 2004 when KSU hosted 4CC. But oh yeah, I sincerely hope she stay in Canada, it's just a wicked plan of KSF and I wish Yuna turn it down.

Hello, everyone.

I am so sorry if I had cost you a trouble.

About my injury, it's not that worrisome. Injury, whether it is severe or not, is something every skaters has and some people are concerned that I'm relatively injury-prone, maybe because I always break the injury news to you, but I think every skaters go through injuries just like me, they just don't say it.

So it's not really that serious and just one of the injuries that happens while training, only this time it was on such a bad timing, right before 4CC.

Before I felt pain, I thought I had a best condition throughout the whole season. I had quite a lot of clean performances while practicing and I had even some energy left after training hard, my stamina never let me down. I thought this time I could bring out the best in me.

But it happened again and I had to stop training...

However don't be anxious too much. I think I have plenty of time before Worlds and I'll rebuild my stamina.

I am so sorry that I couldn't skate in front of you in my home country, not once this season. I know many of you were looking forward to seeing me skate in real life and you must have had some difficulties preparing for it. I am so sorry to deliver this unfortunate news on my part. I hope I will have many opportunities to skate in my country in the future.

Though I'm not participating, please be there and cheer for other skaters.

Thanks a million for your cheering and praying.

Thank you for the translation. That was sweet of YuNa to post to her fans.

Thanks for the translation! Yuna is such a nice girl, and I really hope she takes the proper time to get better so she can skate her best at Worlds.

Thank you for the translation, BelleFilleYuna! It gives me hope for Yu-Na that she sounds optimistic in this message and I hope everything works out for her this season in accomplishing her goals. Good luck and best wishes, Yu-Na!

Thank you for the translation BellefilleYuna! Yuna sounds genuinely grateful and gracious. I can only hope for the best. I hope she fully recover as soon as possible and resume her training. I was really excited when I saw her land beautiful triple loops in practice.

Yu-Na, get well soon!!! Pls don't go to the gala, focus on a complete recovery and show your best at World.

Ok...now that I have my armour ready and my bullet proof vest on...I am not sorry to see YuNa competing at the 4CC's. While I like her skating I like to see others win besides her. I do wish her a speedy recovery....prehaps after worlds....now what do to about Mao...YIKES...I better run and hide!!!
