Yuna Kim

speaking of Giselle, I wrote a very detailed analysis of the program, last summer (spend almost a whole summer to collection info about it and wrote it). but I wrote it in Chinese. OS read it, and liked it, Also, other Chinese Yuna fans may read it too. It is the the first Yuna program that I analyzed.
I also wrote a little bit about Yuna's homage to Korea mainly from oriental/korean dance style aspect and KoV (dual character acting).
The moment jenm mentioned in homage, I also listed as an example.
I may translate it into English, if i have time. :p My point is Giselle is very special to me because of this:biggrin:

As much as I love her Giselle and Homage to Korea program, I just can't watch her Worlds version without thinking what KSU did to her during that time period, and the way she was treated by them :(

I also have this funny feeling that there was some form mistreatment post Olympic season towards Yuna by the KSU. I just don't know how to pinpoint it by detail. hehe. Explain!!! hehe

Guys I found one anecdote about how KSU treated Yuna post Olympic. When Yuna was training in USA, Nippon Television Network Corp aired hidden camera footage of Yuna’s practice in Los Angeles. All that Sports demanded an apology in a broadcast.

Korean fans are comparing this incident to the anecdote of Mao 2010 4cc korea. A hotel employee secretly filmed her check in through one minute video in his cell phone. He uploaded it in his blog. Japanese federations got really upset, so hotels had apologized to Japan feds. The organizer of 4cc also apologized to Japan.
However, in Yuna case, KSU did nothing. They did not do any action for her. Only her agency got upset and demanded an apology.
http://blog.daum.net/kneepjoolgi/8519661
KSU even bothered to visit Cricket to force her to participate in 2010 worlds, but when Yuna needed them they did nothing. They also did nothing when Korean press madly attacked Yuna leaving Orser thing, Korean fans really hate KSU and usually do not believe what they are saying.

Plus...
KSU tried to force Yuna to invite japanese skaters to her ice show.. Ms Rhee actually said that in a broadcasting. Can you believe it? One of the reasons yuna is reluctant to do her ice show could be the pressure from KSU. It's all my guessing. I don't know which country KSU vice president represents.

It's common knowledge that the relationship between South Korea and Japan isn't very good. Is this the reason why ATS never did ice shows that included Japaneses skaters? Or is there something more to it?

Well Japanese federation first prohibited Yuna from participating in their ice show after Yuna said some skaters disturbed her practice in warm up. Japan feds first demanded her apology, or she would never be invited to their shows. Funny thing is she never mentioned it was a Japanese skater though. As you know korea japan relations is very bad especially in figure skating too. Yuna tend to invite some skaters after some exchange of opinions with her fans. We fans don’t have much good opinion of Japanese skaters. Besides Japan has many ice shows ,they don’t feel to go Yuna show. We were happy in our way I guess. Suddenly Olympic comes, so a certain side of people need to go her show I guess. I hope we stay as we were before.

Thanks for the explanation.

This crushes my dream of seeing Yuna and Mao in one ice show. <////3

no 300 silver taels buried here.:disapp:

it so SAD (and I hate) that an once-in-a-life-time, gift-from-God skater --Yuna can not have more outings and skate freely and happily due to all those stupid sabotages.

also, something about KSU force Yuna to invite Japanese skaters in her shows.
Do you guys know how Yuna was treated initially, when she really lacks support and needs support, how the agent she signed with, sabotage her (because Japanese skater) by burying her from sign commercial contract, not inviting her to shows.
Do you guys know the story behind "Once upon a dream"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgPZyqUZeL4

maybe skaterr can give more detailed and accurate account of these incidences.

really can NOT blame Yuna!
what Yuna did and has being doing is really repay evil with kindness.
such as support the future of Korean FS with her own money despite what KSF did to her.
promote olympics as ambassador despite what IOC did to her in Sochi.
etc. etc.
too many!
A girl with a pure heart.
a millions years later, perhaps there will be no boundaries etc. any more. but I am very sure that, people will still watching Yuna's skating videos.

I don’t know where you get the information. It’s pretty accurate according to this post(Huge post) You can not drag it, so It’s hard to translate to other languages. Yuna first belonged to IMG. IMG did the exact thing you mentioned. After refused by IMG, KB bank tried to contact Yuna in person. So their relation began then. Yuna left IMG and went to IB sports. IMG sued her. IMG threatened Yuna she would be get paid. She would never get a chance to do ice shows related to their events.
The ice show behind story you mentioned is here.
IMG proposed that If she did the ice show ( Hyundai super match?), then they would withdraw a suit. The roof of stadium got fired, so the show was canceled. Other skaters and audiences were very mad. I heard the organizer needed a scapegoat to be blamed. The ice show name suddenly was changed to Yuna show. Yuna had to face all the mess alone. She did “Once upon a dream” there in front of all people. It says a foreign fan named Neon was very upset at this mess. He said how the grown ups shifted their responsibilities to this young girl. It also said IMG never withdrew their suit. After all Yuna won. I guess IMG and Yuna have not a good relationship.

^^ that is exactly what i refer to, I just dont have the details. that is why I refered skaterr for more accurate info. which skaterr did as above.
why IMG chose to work against such a young skater in the very beginning, whom apparently has the potential to become the biggest star in skating.
think about it ,why?
so my point is that if we cannot see Yuna and Japanese skaters skating together in shows, we can NOT blame Yuna.

According to this post, IMG drove out Yuna sponsors instead of drawing. IMG charged the earth for her fee. After KB bank contacted Yuna in person, Yuna fans complained about that to IMG. IMG said “She is too young to do that sort of thing.” But strange thing is Mao was doing CM unlike Yuna.
yyyskate you can drag it, so you can translate this post.
I don’t know why IMG did to her. Fans say IMG just want her to wither away. IMG is more close to Japan. I think they don’t need a Star from a small fed.

I think there are many issues between Yuna and Japan. The ATS ice show is held in korea. Yuna also need to respect korean audiences and her fans in korea. We can not blame her surely.

^^ thanks for these two long post, I scrolled down the first one (dont understand korean, but indeed saw some precious photos), haven't check out the second one yet.
about IMG's relationship with Japan or Japanese fed. one just need to check out the personnel within IMG who is in charge of figure skating department. also, more than 90% sponsors in all international figure skating competitions are from Japan.
another example, new figure skating media like TSL received most of their donations from Japanese fans...
Don't need to say more...

Anyways,
recommend a very lovely Yuna fan instagram (always update and has some really rare footage gifs).
https://www.instagram.com/befree_007/
also 2008 SA Yuna ex not as fancy camera work as it is today.
but feels like watching Yuna live.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9rp78JNlpI (this one has better quality 480)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayCFvbsmR5o (this one is longer, intro says, Yuna has draw the most audience in SA history).

Why does thread keep turning into a conspiracy theory hub? :palmf:

Everyone needs to consider what is factual and what is speculation. Blog posts and daum cafes are not good sources of information to take as facts. I know Yuna faced a lot of obstacles in her career, even from her own federation. I also know that a lot of her "fans" saw a lot of "bad guys" and obstacles that just didn't exist. I, for one, would really appreciate it if this thread could stay on celebrating the skater rather than perpetuating rumors and hate. We don't need to make Yuna a victim to admire her.

Edit: Also--I really don't want to involve myself in this conversation but there was never any sabotage by Japanese skaters. Everyone shares the ice during warm-ups. Skaters often get in the way of one another and most of them are taught to focus and not to yield to other skaters. If someone could find the video where Yuna "complained" about sabotage they would find she did no such thing. They (SBS?) spliced a part of her interview with footage from the warm-up to make their story. It was absurd.

This. I cringe so hard when I see all these Korean sites and cafes with hateful/accusatory remarks and conspiracy theories, as you mentioned(looking at you, dc gallery). Unbiased, knowledgeable Korean fs blogs are so rare. I wish I didn't understand Korean sometimes :hopelessness:

Oh dcinside. I need to stay away for my health. I used to love seeing the sport blossom in Korea, and there are some really wonderful fans! But it's just not worth going through the mountain of stupid to find :disapp:
