Yuna Kim

Which Olympics stream do you guys think is the best to see the most of Yuna???

YESSSS!
I'm praying.

I want new meme material and funny gifs. [emoji23]

I love your new avatar! That's a lovely photo of Nessun Dorma Yuna, and I was actually considering adding it too at some point.

Thank you Miss! I saw this pic on Instagram and I HAD TO FIND IT!!!! And you know the best place to find all Yuna high quality photos is on Flickr. There's an user called QUEEN YUNA. Google it if you haven't seen it already. I've found the picture there.

I don't know how I'm gonna do to watch the Olympics. [emoji24] I know there are some channels that will broadcast live on the internet.

I'll probably have to do that thing where you pretend you're in another country? I don't know how it's done but my husband will do it for me because he knows about that stuff.
So that's my plan, I guess.
Otherwise I'll have to wait for the competition to get uploaded to YouTube... T_T And I do not want to have to wait!!!!

So, quick story.
(not so quick)

With the Olympics coming up I've been thinking about Yuna's amazing career and have been watching her performances again. And I've been thinking about the first time I ever watched figure skating.

One day I was watching a Gymnastics 2012 competition on YouTube just to pass the time since I particularly don't love gymnastics and I had never been really into any sport.
On my recommended session I saw the Yuna Kim free skate video from the 2014 SO. I had absolutely no idea of who she was. And I didn't pay the least attention to Winter Olympics since I live in a tropical country.
So I clicked on the video and watched it. By halfway the video I was crying, actually crying, like, bawling my eyes out. And I had no idea why. I don't know if it was the music or what. I don't usually cry with no reason. Till this day, I haven't had a similar experience. I did teared up when Kihira landed her 3A+3T. But the emotional burst I had watching Yuna's performance was a whole other level.
Anyway. So you guys see why I love her skating so much!
After that video I obviously binge watched her programs. But none had the same effect as Adios Nonino.
Fun fact, I remember watching the Gershwin FS and finding it so boring! [emoji23] Nowadays I get the feels watching that perfection. [emoji7]
So, this kids is how I met Yuna Kim([emoji23]) and how I became a figure skating fan.

Have you guys had a similar experience?

I'm embarrassed to admit but I cried numerous times watching her Meditation de Thais from ATS2012 and Send in the Clowns from ATS 2014, it was so painfully beautiful:sad21:
Adios Nonino makes my heart ache the most out of her programs and I cried over it a lot too:o::laugh:

Oh, thank god! I thought I was too highly sentimental. lol And I know I'm not. It's just that one program... It breaks my heart.
And I was embarrassed to admit it too. Let's be embarrassed together then! [emoji23]

My most emotional Yuna moments are her 2011 LP to Arirang and her 2014 EX to Nessun Dorma.

ETA: my first Yuna moment was her 2007 "Roxanne" SP, never in my life I was so glued to the desktop by a skating performance. It definetely made me a Yuna fan and a figure skating fan; my most favourite Yuna program (and most favourite ladies program in general) is Danse Macabre.

I am so glad that I run into your post AND read about your personal first encounter with Yuna. Especially it is her Adios Nonino. Thank You.
Adios Noino IS my sentimental fav program of Yuna, it was sooo under-rated during Sochi OG or just under-rated, I am soooo glad that people like you understand it, feel it and cry for it at the first sight. It truly says alot...

my most emotional moment of Yuna.
Although, I was lucky and had the privilege to watch Yuna's Les Mis in person. My most vivid emotion back then is just exhaustion. Also, confidence, As a Yuna fan, when I watch Yuna's Les Mis in person as the last skater, I was not nervous at all, I just felt extremely confident about her and utter exhaustion afterwards... Yuna's Les Mis still remains the Most beautiful figure skating program that I have watched in person.

My most emotional moment is Yuna's Adios Nonino, as a long term Yuna fan, I sensed the manipulation of scores ever since the team event. I was literally crying looong before Yuna even started her program, because I knew no matter what she do, she will not win. But I still have the gut to watch her till the end. because I just have that confidence about her.
Before Yuna's Adios Nonino Sochi outing, I have watched that program many times. I was crying during her whole program (Sochi OG outing), the strongest feeling I have perhaps is bravery.

edit: I watched Yuna's Adios Nonino again, it is the same, every time, towards the end, it will literally take my breathe away.
I guess tonight is gonna be another binge watching Yuna's program night...

Updates? About the Opening ceremony rehearsal? LOL. All I ever wanted is to see Yuna again.

Yes! It is very touching. That program just exudes this bittersweet sadness... It's a mix of emotions.
I was really confused when I finished watching it. It reminded me of when I cried looking at a Van Gogh painting on this Google art thing that was sort of like a online museum. But you see, I knew everything about that painting, about Van Gogh's history, I knew who he was and what he went through.
With Yuna I knew absolutely nothing. And it still touched me, just her movements, her expression, the performance in itself.
The fact she didn't win the Gold only made things even sadder for me afterwards.
What really makes me mad though was the lack of sportsmanship from most of the Russian audience. First, they kept chanting Russia at all times, in all disciplines, even right after incredible performances like Hanyu's or Yuna's. On top of that, had the competition been anywhere else in the world, the whole audience would've given her a standing ovation, specially after the free skate. It was her last performance for God's sake! She definitely did not get the love she deserved. Fortunately, Yuna and her team were not naive. After that scoring in the SP they knew she'd not win. And the Russian crowd made pretty clear only Russian ladies had their support. Such a shame. A very sad ending for her beautiful career.
I'm glad this Olympics are in Korea. We will have other legends retiring(V/M definitely, Kostner most probably) and I'm hoping the audience will give them the warmest goodbye. After all, no one deserves that cold and rude farewell of Sochi.

If she will be there I'm sure they're going to hide it till the end, some cuts of practice was broadcasted though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOJcP0fa5B0
But seriously, Yuna better be torch lighter.

She better light the torch, then sit on the Game of Thrones iron throne with a crown of flames shooting thunder and lightning into the sky, and declare the games open with the sheer majesty that only she can!!!

Seriously though - there is no other person who should be lighting the flame. NOBODY. Not even the members of BTS!

Only seen her in the beginning on a recorded intro welcoming us to the airport, could it possibly be that she could be lighting the cauldron? I so hope so!!!!

Okay, I can bit a bit emotionnal sometimes, but I teared up this time. Queen Yuna deserves this honor a thousand times. When the commentator said : "If you know South Korea sport history just a bit, there is no question to who will lit up the flame". Obvious, yet I couldn't help but cry a bit.
