4S is just nothing for him right now
it's incredible the way this jump came and where it is now

Yuzu's 4S review from 2012 SA FS to 2015 GPF (SP +FS) = 20 attempts . Feel free to correct it .

From 2012 SA FS to 2014 NHK FS Yuzu jumped 4S 12 times , had 5 falls, 4 doubled /popped jump, 2 jumps which received negative GOE and a < , 1 jump with 0 GOE .

From Barcelona 2014 to Barcelona 2015 Yuzu jumped 4S 8 times ( 6 in FS + 2 in SP), had one doubled jump and 7 jumps which received positive GOE in all attempts ( from +1 to +3 ) .

Barcelona 2014 is the turning point: Yuzu came back from COC hell and mastered 4S simultaneously .In Barcelona 2014 Yuzu's 4S earned positive GOE for the very first time ( +2,43). IIRC Yuzu said he understood the way he has to train during those extremely difficult weeks when he was injured and the abdominal infection that required surgery was starting.

2012 SA FS 4S Fall
2012 NHK FS 4S -1,71
2012 GPF FS 4S doubled

2013 4CC FS 4S doubled
2013 Worlds FS 4S < -1,86

2013 SC FS 4S fall
2013 TEB FS 4S popped

2014 COC FS 4S fall

2014 GPF FS 4S 2,43

Wow, wonderful review :thank:

4S is just nothing for him right now

I have a feeling he would still struggle with 4S last season (he did struggle with 4S at the beginning of last season) and this season if he didn't have the collision and surgery last season. His struggle with 4S is more of a mental issue than technical issue. His 4S success rate is not low in practice, but he had so much trouble landing the jump in competitions. I actually think his biggest improvement happened last season because he has become mentally much stronger even though he didn't upgrade his tech. A person can always improve his/her technical skill with more practice and training, but may never improve his/her mental strength even with more training. IMO, last season is a blessing in disguise.

I also think he is very fortunate that he has never had any major injuries in his career even though he pushed his body to his limit (or beyond his limit) every season. (IMO, if an athlete is injury free, he/she is staying in his/her comfort zone for too long.) The injury from the collision is relatively minor last season. He recovered in 2 weeks. (The more serious injures require months to recover.) Han Yan recovered in a few days. The surgery is not injury related. It will happen sooner or later. At least it didn't happen during the Olympic season.

Not necessarily true, an abdominal – pelvic trauma may provoke an (urachal) intracystic hematoma and a related cystic superinfection.

Finally, PhD defended :hap57:

To have concentration, I had banned myself from anything related to figure skating and Yuzuru in last 10 days :drama:. Now, I have lots of pages to read and catch up to you guys. But, feels so good to be back here. I missed you so much :luv17:.

Congratulations !!! :clapper: ;)

But, the urachal remnant (where the infection took place) is something you're born with when the urachus does not close properly. So it wasn't precisely related to pushing himself, if there had not been a remnant, there would have been no infection in the first place. He actually lasted a lot without any infection, normally it causes trouble at a much younger age.

Todays NHK special backstage episode was great! More Yuzu with kids. -They really like him and he likes them.
The rest of team Japan was there too and adorable. I wonder why Shoma was the only one not there. Scheduling or rest needed?

The power and the control! :luv17:

Quote from the blogger Morozombie:
When asked about my favorite element to watch in figure skating, my answer is always 'triple axel out of a spread eagle.' No hops, turns or pauses between the spread eagle and the axel, but a triple axel directly out of an outside spread eagle, preferably with the spread eagle held out with good speed, deep edges and for a decent length of time (i.e. more than the 2-millisecond CoP-style MITF we often see prior to a jump) with no unsightly bottoms sticking out for balance. It's a difficult enough entry to sufficiently impress judges and spectators alike, and when done well, there's something ineffably majestic about the power and precision necessary to complete said element. What's not to like?

Cuteness overloooad

Yuzuru : Good Morning, My boss! (bows)

Mao : It’s not funny.

Yuzuru : Hehehe

:hap93:

Apparently, Mao, like Kanako, does not think Yuzuru is a funny boy. ;)

And calling Mao "my boss" brought to my mind his comment about probably becoming a henpecked husband.:dev3:

Just joking
