Yuzuru Hanyu: 2015-16 Season

If history perfectly replays itself, Yuzu will have back to back OGG then two world titles! He earn his first world title one month right after sochi remember?

I thought he was retiring after the olympics? That is if his performance is satisfactory to him haha (I wouldnt object to one last comp though, I think I will cry when he retires)

Actually I do think it's more related to the timing of his peak. Record does show that he constantly had tough fights in WC. He merely won in 2014 with a paper thin gap, but it's hard to tell anything as it's post-Oly... The simplest way to understand the thing is that he hasn't find a way to prolong his good form for the whole season?

Anyway he is now probably having his mood back as he has challenges again. He loves that so much. Who knows...

OGG and WCG in the same year will be a perfect ending of his competitive career! I will pray for that to happen.

He said he wants to pursue further education after graduating from university. So retiring at 23 then begin to do a master degree is a perfect time and plan. This way, he still gets to experience the college life when he is still young.

He said his fav are singsingsing and change at the small medal ceremony. It is likely he will do a upbeat ex I guess.

Sorry, I guess I lost my calm by the way I worded my post... I'm just disappointed to see quite a number of people "panicking" when I don't see what the big problem is. I cried when he didn't win yesterday, I was very disappointed for him... but how many legends have been through rough time? They all did... Yuna, Plushenko, Kwan... hell, even tonight, Maxim and Tatiana fell to 6th place when tons of people were ready to give them the gold, but Meagan and Eric were flawless. Like Javi had been.

Of course, I understand why some fans are concerned regarding the incident and the fact that the reason he didn't win isn't known yet (when last year it was a rather easy guess.)

We have to remember that Yuzu has quite the team around him. Team mates he gets along with. Many people who support him through up and down. Right now, he's not feeling well for excellent reason. But I wish people would not dramatize everything for no good reason. Last year, some fans were even suggesting that he was not going to come back to TCC, totally ignoring the fact that he was wounded, had surgery and therefore, had to stay in Japan for his own good.

It's not the end of the world that he didn't win. I'll understand if he feels a bit like it, but he's not naive. He can learn from it. And he will. He did, last year. He will again.

Urgh, you won't want to know how miserable I looked last night and even this morning in my room. I an disappointing to the result but not to him as SEIMEI is something so special to him, he wanted to deliver it so much and I think he deserves it so much too. Saying it in another way, I reflected that I had too much expectation to him. He's not a robot and he never will be. TBH he will perhaps lose again in the future (knock-knock), i will still love him no matter what. To me, he's more than medals. Even speaking about achievements, he's more than enough to be appreciated.

I just hope people understand that fans actually know nearly nothing neither to his life including training and studying nor his deep feeling with his coaches, training mates and rivals. We can only see the things on the table. Making wild guesses or 'suggestions' might be interesting to do but there's a limit. TCC is just like Hanyu, they ain't anything like God, there are pros and cons, good and bad times. The same to other clubs. If I were anything like suggesting Hanyu to leave, at least I will sort out where should he go first.

Some fans have already commented this result at this timing might be good for Yuzuru. Actually his final goal is the second Olympic gold. Some even said they were relieved as it was difficult for anybody to bear the situation to keep winning for another two years. I'm sure he has been overcoming this defeat and lit another flame inside him to improve.

I don't think Brian's reaction this time was so wrong. Yuzuru was angry, his fans were angry, and if his coach took the same attitude, the situation could have been much bitterer. (So, I was disappointed by the reaction of Denis's coach. He should have said, "I don't think it was intentional. But it is true that D cut the course of Yuzuru's run through. So, I told D to be more careful")

I'm sure Yuzuru has learnt from Javi how to handle this kind of situation. It may be very difficult to shrug it off completely like Javi did, but Yuzuru will try to be less emotional next time (I'm not saying he should not complain to this kind of things) This is one of the reasons I believe Yuzuru should be at CC with Javi and his coaches.

His fans want to see his smiles more. We will be always with you, Yuzuru Ganbatte!

I really regret that I couldn't come up earlier to see the short. All I have as a live experience will be the long and I highly doubt I'll have the chance to ever see him live again. Next year's worlds isn't realistic and it's so far to travel when you're not even sure what could happen in a year. I haven't been an uber fan of a skater like this since Sasha Cohen so I know this type of heartbreak all too well (though at least he has a world and olympic title out of it). It makes me feel like I'm destined to love the brilliant ones who happen to be headcases. I don't love his skating because he wins, but because it's incredible skating like we really haven't seen before. I just wanted to see a piece of it that night but it wasn't meant to be. Win or lose, I continue to wish him the best and all the health both physically and mentally.

Maybe you can take comfort in the fact that you got to see him at all. You didn't get to see one of the great performances, but you got to see him live. I remember after I saw him only in practice for the first time, there's just so many little things you appreciate way more after you've seen them in person.
It's easy for me to talk, I know I'm really sorry you didn't get to see him on a better day.

Seeing as you've been lurking for about a year already, you probably know that a lot of this is going to blow over something goes wrong, some heads explode. Happens all the time around here. I'm not even getting into most of it anymore.

Whilst he has dealt with his personal disappointment with grace, dignity and a mature attitude, sadly it seems some of his fanbase have not.

I think it's admirable how he handles himself and the situation, and I'm sure he will come out on top because of it :yes:

I don't think Yuzu bombed, he didn't do his best but he didn't fall all over the place, which he could have done if he had completely lost his focus. He didn't perform his best, and he has already identified what he needs to work on in order to try and strengthen that area (his mental state). I think he's completely switched on for someone his age, and incredibly self aware.

But if we do not have any mistakes in life then we do not learn from them and we do not grow character or strength.

What seems lost in this is that he is only young, and as fans we should not be adding to the pressure he undoubtedly feels. I don't want him to apologise for this result, I want him to sit down with himself and then his team and work on what he is dissatisfied with. As fans we should support him whatever his result and not resort to 'backseat' coaching/mothering. None of us know him personally, we don't know the exact circumstances or constraints placed on his life. It's lashing out when being unable to deal with the disappointment and as I've seen described 'embarrassment' of his result. Whilst he has dealt with his personal disappointment with grace, dignity and a mature attitude, sadly it seems some of his fanbase have not.

Seeing all of this finger pointing and blaming over a SILVER MEDAL seems absurd. Who cares if he doesn't win another medal in his life so long as he is happy, healthy and is performing beautiful routines with or without falls. It's times like these that I think he's entirely sensible not having a social media presence.

But it happened the second year in a row. What did he learn? This year he was in the best form ever and it was his best chance. The next time he maybe won't be in such a good shape. And he didn't look that happy with the silver medal.

Did he ever visit a sport psychologist? Maybe he should try it.
