I am curious to know about the extent of Yuzuru's injury because that will really affect his summer and whether or not he competes on the GP series next season.
From what I understand (as someone who is not a health professional) to properly diagnose ligament problems, an MRI is required. For a private patient in Toronto, that could probably be done within a week. A place like
St. Mike's Hospital gives a timeline of a couple of days. If we give a week for the MRI to be reviewed (ample time), the extent of the damage should be known within perhaps two weeks. After this, Yuzuru's primary doctor should decide whether he needs just rehab/a cast or surgery. That means the JSF should know before the end of April what treatment Yuzuru requires. And hopefully they'll let us know something so his fans can be at ease.
If he does need surgery, foot surgeries apparently take 3-6 months for the patient to recover. I'm not sure how much muscle mass would be lost in a cast/on crutches, so he would have to regain that. If surgery is required, I am not sure how the reduced training time would effect him. He generally does not do well with less training time, does he?
I'm sorry to bring a serious discussion into this mostly lighthearted thread but I'm worrying about what is happening right now. And you guys seem like the best people to discuss this stuff with. :sad4:
