Not only Yuzu, people connect any skater they like with that anime, e.g. Tatsuki Machida, Stephane Lambiel, Julia Lipnitskaya, Takahiko Kozuka…. I’ve just found a tweet which connects Dice Murakami with the character while I was trying to find some info about his withdrawal from Skate America. It bothers me a little bit too but I guess I just have to live with it. The series will end with GPS anyway.

To be fair, some of that did not come out of nowhere. Yuuri's background is Tatsuki Machida's background, literally just lifted and copied. Yulia was mentioned by the author herself as inspiration for the kid Russian, she just flipped the genders around, and I think Yulia even knows, and I think Zhenya too spoke about being an inspiration for one of the Russian girls. Takahashi is from the new episode, his SP from 2010 was obviously used for a program. So while I think Yuzuru is pure wishful thinking, some of the rest does have basis.

The thing with Yuzuru is that he is quite well known, very well liked by tumblr girls but he is for the most part the only skater they know because they don't follow figure skating so with him, it's totally gotten out of hand! They'll stop after a while, hopefully some of them get to love skating in general in time too. But I guess it's just Yuzu's 'fault' for being so cute and well known, that they are trying to insert him into the anime ;)

And his idol is a russian skater :P, i've had people ask me "so which one is Yuzuru?" haha. And people in tumblr are always trying to see their fantasies in the reality, i know because i've been there for years and it can get kinda sad when you realize that most want tumblr to permeate in their reality :/

In other topics, i can't stop humming the Lotte CM song D: and i'm craving chocolate because of that lol

I have to say, though, that YOI has been like a second Sochi  more people look up figure skating, they obviously run into Yuzu and are smitten by him :p and some try to learn more about the sport. And figure skating always needs new fans, I like helping out people who are genuinely interested about the real life sport, even if it was caused by YOI.
I'll admit that's what happened to me after I saw Yuzu skating to PW in Sochi and scoring 101. I didn't know if that was a good score back then (let alone a WR), but judging by the scores I had seen up until that moment and his reaction I assumed it was good. I had to show it to my whole family and so everyone at my house became figure skating fans thanks to Yuzu
Only a few more days until SC! I'm not expecting a miracle skate there (better save it for Worlds), but I hope he can have a skate good enough for him not to say he is regretful all the time :hap10:

I am hoping for a clean SP (doesn't have to be perfect, so he can wobble a bit) but I'd like a clean SP because that should balance out any mistakes in the FS and help with that positive frustration. Fingers and toes crossed.

I honestly can't wait to see the SP again, hopefully it will be better than ACI :D (btw, anyone knows about streaming? Will it be on SkateCanada's dailymotion again or what? D: )

Well the Russians for sure, and the ISU one without commentary but that one requires a proxy (you're Japanese right, or did I mix that up? Because Japan is geo-blocked, so you would have to fudge with a proxy in order to watch). You don't need a proxy for the Russians but you'll have to deal with their commentary. I am sure there'll be more, possibly even BESP but too early now, we'll know on Monday when they put up the schedules.

I think this is the first time anyone has thought i'm japanese :P
So, ISU will stream but where? I don't mind the commentaries actually, i would like just to watch the one with the best quality (my phone bill will suffer because of that, since i will be at work the first day of the competition!)
Fun fact: during ACI i had a presentation at school, i still can't believe i was able to deliver a good presentation considering i was recovering from the shock of white costume+Prince+4Lo. I literally had to give my presentation just as his score was being announced. Good times.

Idk why, but the ISU stream is always geoblocked in Mexico except for WTT :( and for me at least, the proxy hasn't been working. I use the CBC stream but with a proxy.
B.ESP might stream it too, but given that it's in America and not Europe, idk if it would be live. But if you check the competition threat tomorrow, I'm sure people will post links to watch it. Last year TSN (I think?) Had a very good coverage, I don't remember if it was geoblocked but Tracy Wilson was commenting and she did a great job

I'm sorry :o: in my defense there are so many of us, I think I've mixed all the countries up by now!
And here, this one:

But just make sure you're not from a geo-blocked country or if you are, use a proxy. I'd set it in Africa somewhere and you should be ok because all the major countries are on the block list. USA, Japan, Australia, China, Russia, the whole of Latin America... I am only unsure of what will happen to us in Europe, but that'll depend probably on which country has which rights for transmissions. Since BESP is doing SA, I think UK is probably blocked too.
I stick to Russians and TAT so if you end up without one you can always use that too.

Congrats on that presentation, maybe Yuzuru actually helped by providing additional positive energy ;)

At last GPS begins :yahoo:

Looking forward to seeing his improved SP, FP, and of course, new EX. What will his EX be like? So exciting.

One twitter now talked about in Japan, by the way.

https://twitter.com/mau28310351

Rie Habu (羽生理恵) is the wife of Yoshiharu Habu (羽生善治), Shogi Master. I think you probably remember the questionnaire some time before.

She seems to love ducks, rabbits, Yuzuru, and her husband :laugh2:
(Actually, Yoshiharu Habu is talking about the cheating issue in Shogi tournament using his wife's twitter)

Astonished by the flow of ducks and rabbits

But, Yuzuru is cute anyway :coffee:

i am hoping for clean short at SC too, we will see if he is prepared already for SC or will he build up for NHK like last season

Last year, if I'm not wrong, Skate Canada broadcasted the practices on Dailymotion. I hope this time they do the same ( I need a praying icon here hahah)

I wonder why they block the stream here! Is not like any tv network broadcasts FS :P

Haha, no worries, is just that i was surprised because i've been mistaken for an american guy on the internet too many times, even for a finnish person, but never japanese :P i'm curious as to why you thought so haha.
Setting a vpn on my phone is difficult, a lot of trial and error so i might just end up bringing my laptop to work... At least i have an understanding boss because as long as i finish what they assigned me, i am free to do whatever i want :D.
Actually yes! I hadn't studied much about the topic because of work but i was so happy and high on the excitement of having watched him skate live that i was able to do a very good presentation, i was even more focused than the classmate who was presenting with me, maybe some of his focusing energy was transmitted to me :D

EDIT: I did a bit of research and found out that apparently Mexico is not blocked! I might try with Skate America to see if that's true :D i hope it is!!

I have absolutely no idea! It's possible you posted after someone who is, and my brain just melded the two, wouldn't be the first time! Fingers crossed you manage to work out the proxy issues.

BTW Anyone got a link for the video this is from?

This has probably been posted before but :

Am I the only one dying at the host's comment?

I posted a question on this forum a few months ago about a frequent interviewer of yuzuru and never came back due to personal circumstances, so I want to thank all the wonderful people here who answered me back then!

Aww he looks so happy!! I might have understood wrong but in the recent Lotte interview he said that competing in the olympics with Plushenko was one of the highlights of his career as a skater? I can't begin to imagine how that felt, i had the privilege of meeting one of my idols and it made MY YEAR.
Skating as an equal with a person you admire so much must have been an incredible experience, i wish i could have understood more about it. Hearing people talk with such passion and joy about what they are doing always puts me in a good mood :D

It seems, at least for now, SC will be the last chance for me to watch him lively of this season; so I keep finger crossed for at least one decent performance from Yuzu:dance:

Hard to believe that in one week I will be sitting watching SC practices:luv17: I am sure many of you feel the same way!!!
