Yuzuru Hanyu: 2016-17 Season

I have to say: I recently watched the men's skates at Lombardia Trophy and also those of men at Russian Tests, but no one has the flow in and out of the jumps as Yuzuru :). And I realised I missed him so much....

The only thing I didn't like so much is the conclusion of the SP, if I have seen well: I hoped in something completely different from Chopin SP, while it seems very close to it.

P.S. Thank you so much for posting so quickly the news and the video: perfect timing for going happy to bed here in central Europe :luv17:!
The ending is not on point, but it can change. :) the angle was not the best for viewing either, so we should wait for SC Classics to have a proper idea.

the news is out and I'm so pleased at these choices. I'm indifferent to Prince but I'm ready to see what Yuzu will make of it. LOOOOVE Joe. :luv17:

Just found out the news of the music choices and I love both of Yuzuru's choices! A fun, fast-paced song by Prince contrasted by heartfelt emotional instrumental piece by Joe Hisaishi both totally suits him!

I didn't get a chance to watch it yet but I saw some ss and it looks like he changed boots? To Edea Pianos. I wonder if it has anything to do with the injury.

:yahoo:Can't wait for the autumn classics! I was a little worried about the short program music selection after he announced the style for SP, but now, LOVE his choice! Totally brilliant!

He still feels pain? Oh. I am sad to hear that, but at least they acknowledge and treat it instead of ignoring it. Pain management is key and most athletes deal with this. Good luck to him. I hope he trains smart, not more is better.

Okay, love love the FS music!

That's definitely "View of Silence" from the studio album Pretender. I've played that piece so many times, I can dream it.

I'm trying to place the last couple of notes that I heard, 3:25 to 3:32. I thought at first it's from White Night (Piano Stories II), but having doubts now. It also sounds similar to a passage from Mononoke Hime, so... anyone know for sure?
edit: it's not the Mononoke Hime part, either, there's like two notes switched in the melody of about eight notes. Hisaishi sure likes to reuse melodies that are almost the same but not. ;-)

It appears to be Asian Dream @ the 1:50-ish mark. Hope & Legacy is beautiful name for such a gorgeous piece, performed by an extraordinary skater :o:

Thanks, I think you just saved my sanity, lol. Funny how I kept going on about that piece before going to sleep and couldn't figure it out this morning. I'm not entirely sure if that bit of the music ever made it to the piano-solo piano album version I'm mostly familiar with, it's definitely not as long as this original orchestral version. May need to do research today after work (and before piano lesson, incidentally).

And yes, that is a wonderful name for the FS.

Still funny that someone with a certain skating username on youtube made that playlist in May already. I guess we could have known about this for a good long while already!

Lol, I know how annoying that can be. I loved that piece so much I had it on repeat just as I saw your post. That specific melody was very familiar to me even though it was my first time hearing Asian Dream so he must have used a similar melody in his other works as well :)

And I went through that user's profile which, judging by the types of videos that person liked...it could very well be Yuzu's own YT account
