Haha ok then :D There are some... reasons why the forum is still account only, but we'll figure something out. And... We'll see :) we will start worrying if the number of users increases :)

No I completely understand  Anyway if people are thinking of making a new forum solely just for him that can accomodate more users, I don't mind chipping in for a bit of $$ but then it would need more than 1/2 person to be willing to do this :p

I'm willing to part with more money too (i've already invested money and time on this kid. I don't mind doing a bit more to be honest)

Yeah, I once chip in for another forum too for quite a while, and it is not really much if the traffic is not high; but if it is expected to have high traffic, you need to pay more. I actually don't mind, maybe I chip in not by a lot of money but if more people are willing for it, I am in.

How much does it usually cost?

Depending on the expected traffic and expected flood of posts. I assume we won't be hosting pictures and stuff. Could be really low like 10-15 a month up to few hundreds a month. Since it is quite niche and I won't expect many user I think it should not be expensive. I don't know though. :scratch2:

Personally, I'm wary of going over to FSU. The tone there is far worse from what I've seen. Believe it or not, even more trolls. This episode was disastrous, but I will still be here for the Yuzu love with anyone else who wants to stay :ghug:

I have no specific expectations, but who knows, once the volunteer moderators coordinate with each other, their response and handling of the situation may improve. This thread has a lot of history and momentum. It is the main resource and gathering place in English for Yuzu fans, and it seems from some of our newer members' input, that there isn't even something similar in Japanese. I would hate to dissipate our energies by moving, and lose the record of our past. I wonder if it's a bit like making a coaching change in an Olympic year? That's my worry, anyway.

I would still be here
I follow many other skaters too and I think GS is still more convenient for general skating news (or gossip cough). I do think the idea of a yuzuru only forum to host is not bad though. People can post about skating stuff or non-skating stuff there.

I wonder if things like kickstarter would work

Lmao I seriously have no idea. I chip in not by a lot FYI, just about 10-20$ a year and many others are chipping in too and it kept the forum alive. But the whole details of how much it actually cost, I did not know cause I never handled it. But there was never trouble.

Just as a reference the YHIFG FB has 11K users...maybe is we have ~10k of fans contributing US$1 each for US$10K will it be sufficient?

MOAR than sufficient, but then again I don't expect many people/everyone to be willing to commit to pay $$. I think to have 20-50 people willing to commit 10$ a year would be sufficient for a start. It is really depending on how many people you expect would be in the forum and the bandwidth and storage and yada yada yada that I don't understand well. There are many hosting service out there, though I am not familiar which is the best and which will be the most economical (cheap but not lousy).

For something OT, This looks like something Yuzu would fully support

Statistically there's usually only a small fraction that will chip in sufficiently enough. I don't think we'll need that much per month. Here are some vbulletin rates:
http://www.vbulletin.com/en/purchases
http://www.vbulletin.com/en/vbulletin-cloud - this may be more up our alley. I wish they had an example of the amount of users for a particular forum.

FSU typically has subscriptions for its users, so I don't know if something like that would work. People can pay monthly, semi-annually, or annually.

Ok, folks, I can't stay here any more. It was my pleasure knowing all of you - but having to deal with this George Orwell fantasy world of stupid regulations of human communication, of what I should be saying where is much more than I can face.
Join us in FSU to find out where the rest of the gang can be found. I might be lurking around if they let me, but I won't be posting anymore.

Yeah I've joined FSU. I'll probably post in both places depends on where is more active

The 30$ per month looks sufficient to me :p

Hydro's Mental Theater
Requiem
Yuzuru's fans take more of him that they realize.
They entered their own quad era, and people started to notice.
Just as Yuzu left Nanami's wing for a better place where he could develop his full potential...
They are now looking for their Cricket Club.

That website was Rottentomatoes and once they got big with their primary site, they got rid of their community forums. Same thing happened to the community comments in IMDB. If GS main goal is to establish themselves as a legit news site about figure skating, they might one day get rid of the community forum.

Oh god, don't remind me. One of my sources to understand some movies and see discussions about them suddenly gone.

If this ever happen in this moment FS discussion in general is a bit doomed to be honest. I don't believe this is their goal, their articles is certainly not the reason why the site gets its traffic. This is by far the largest free skating forum and with the fastest posting rate. We'll still have twitter though. I'm not fond of facebook groups but that might be an alternative for some, however it still wouldn't work as a large platform but as subgroups. I have an account on FSU that I have never even used, I just check the forum once per two weeks. FSU is a much more condensed forum, less diversity of posters or at least they come off at that because of similar points of views so someone might correct me on that and to see everything you need to pay for membership. Competition threads are hilarious though, but certainly not 90% polite. If people didn't grown a thick skin here, then FSU is not the place, or is just similar.

I also used to visit the yuzuruhanyuforum before the server was taken down and it didn't have nearly as much traffic as here. It was a good and calmer forum. 'Crazy' can be the worst but sometimes it can also be great, even If I don't take part in that when it happens here. It depends.

I think this was an unfortunate series of events, but I'll still be here. I wasn't here since the beginning of it but I appreciate the summaries.

This thread includes the ups and lows of almost all of Yuzuru's senior career, and especially the key points of it. I completely understand if some decide to spend some time out though, I probably just have some detaching issues.

I'm working on a backup of this :)

I would be willing to chip in $5~$10 for a site just for hanyu. Even tho I said earlier that I like you can exit the echo chamber on here it's not like I can't follow other skaters elsewhere...

I like that too, but i've said a lot of times that i rarely post elsewhere because my username has Yuzu on it :P

I am very sad about what happened in the last few hours, but I must express my thanks. GOE + 100000000000 for all those responsible for the materialization of this beautiful video. I love Hope and Legacy, and I love it even more after seeing this video and confirm through the richness of details presented how much Yuzu had to work hard to compose each element of this program in line with the music. It is majestic. Congratulations on this beautiful work. I'm learning a lot from him and I believe other fans too. Thank you. I feel so proud of you all.
Dear Li'kitsu, the seed has been planted on fertile soil, rejoice in the positive grandeur of this incredible project. Look at our Yuzuru. He never gives up and always sees beyond the reach of his eyes. We must not give up. Believe! Nothing will stop the good seed from germinating. Nothing.

Now I'm not sure which is off-topic and which is not:(, but just to update news about Yuzu,

Here is the calligraphy Yuzu did on the first day of that training camp:
http://m.sponichi.co.jp/sports/news/2017/04/30/gazo/20170430s00079000206000p.html

Every athlete chose the most important Kanji for him/her, and wrote it down.
Yuzu chose 翔, which means "fly high in the sky (with wings)".
This Kanji is getting very popular among parents and used often in boy's names; 大谷翔平(Shohei Ohtani)

Others' chosen Kanjis can be seen here:https://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20170430-00000518-sanspo-spo.view-000
Actually, calligraphy is quite difficult though we learn it at school. I am very bad at it:drama: Yuzu's is very neat, I think.
