Yuzuru Hanyu: 2016-17 Season

seeing that the discussion went onto possible/preferred music choices for Olympic season programs...I'd love to see Yuzuru skating to 'Ancora' piece by Ludovico Einaudi www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdSMZTSRQNc it is quite longish, but I do think that would make a beautiful, evoking SP as the music is not static - it has that feel of momentum building; I think that it could highlight lyricism and powerfulness of Yuzuru's skating at the same time.

I'd love also seeing him doing a program to Alexandre Desplat music, for example 'The Danish Girl' OST or 'The painted veil' OST

I agree, in fact many have already suggested Ludovico Einaudi music.
And Alexandre Desplat has some magnificent music. Actually Zhenya skated to one of his OST "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close".

( For those not familiar with kanji the last character of his names is literally strings).

For the Olympics I think he can't go wrong with something classic, beautiful, and also in his mind symbolic of his identity and a homage to his parents who gave him his name! Of course this is pure speculation. :)

I definitely think he'll go for at least one classical music program next season. Let me see how accurately I can predict: I think he'll choose something early-20th-century for his SP (didn't he mention he'd like to do jazz or something?), and he'll go for a classic, not overly used, powerful piece for his LP. (Though I'd forgive him for a Swan Lake, lol. ;) ) I don't think he'll do two programs to classical music, since Shoma will already be doing that.

Okay, if he does skate to Romeo and Juliet again, may we request something other than Nina Rota (aka Warhorse R&J)? What about this lovely strings version from Abel Korzeniowski? https://youtu.be/YXJgBt71iTo The WE soundtrack is also lovely.

For ex...how about a tango? Or Rumba?

I don't think really that he will ever return to R&J theme, although there are still music options left. :laugh:

WE theme is one of my favourites, but Papadakis-Cizeron already skated to it and for me this perfomance is quite unbeatable.

I just thought of string instruments and a music piece called 'Elea' came to my mind (absolutely loved it a few years ago). I tried to cut a SP-version of it. Maybe it's a bit too fast and furious for skating, but surely epic - what do you think?

Wouldn't a tango or a rhumba look like he's just trying to beat Shoma, though? ;) I love it too when he skates to Asian music! Somehow I doubt he'll go for it in the FP for the third time in a row, but maybe hopefully in the gala or SP? *fingers crossed*

Yuzuru Hanyu and Rumba. I want to see that :rofl: (Well, I did not expect him to perform Samba either and that was some crazy stuff)
