Yuzuru Hanyu: 2018-2019

Yomiuri shinbun decided to donate 42,780,000 yen from the goods profit in Yuzuru Hanyu Exhibition to the affected areas by natural disaster. They talked with Yuzuru and decided to send 10,000,000 yen to each Miyagi, Iwate, Fukushima, and the rest to Hokkaido and Fukuoka etc through Japan Red Cross. (I'm guessing Hiroshima will also be included)

This year, Japan had more natural disasters than usual (typhoons, earthquakes, flooding, landslide...). Thank you so much, Yuzuru and Yomiuri.

My god, that's a lot of money! (I converted to Aussie dollars) The Japanese really have such good cause to be grateful that Yuzuru is theirs, not only for his sporting accomplishments but the sheer amount of good he does or inspires others to do.... it's part of what sets him apart.

PS - maybe that's the exciting thing Kurt mentioned, for sure it would be close to Yuzu's heart.

I am envious..... not that we don't get perfectly great ice cream but no freebies at all, let alone those that are even better than the ice cream (and no calories!)

"Unbelievable! When it finished it was so amazing one almost holds one's head in ones hands. How does one do this kind of performance on that kind of stage?? It would make one cry. I would like to aim to be a person that could be called 'Japan's ace', like Hanyu-senshu and Shoma-senshu, but I'll have to try really hard, as it is, it's difficult.

That's lovely. I do think we'll hear more of this from now on, as the young skaters come up who sit and watch Yuzu and were inspired just as he sat and watched Johnny and Plushy...
