--I worry too, but this year is all about changing it up. Yuzu may want to break all the curses that have dogged him. Or, he'll lose, and burn even hotter to do better, and blow everyone away at the next competition --that's the Yuzu we know.
As long as he stays healthy.
This season seems to be Yuzu's conquest of career curses indeed:
Gold in the first GP. Check.
Strong performances and records early in the season. Check.
Only one pop in five programs. Check.
...
I wouldn't mind, if he continues with wings :p

If there's one thing I can criticize today - it's the fact that the arena wasn't sold out

I don't want to ruined this day but I feel nervous that GPF will be held in a country he never won a GPS ...at least not gold medal

Not just the regular GPs, but the only GPF and Worlds he attended but didn't medal were all in the same country, I believe

I see someone quite literally threw a +5 at Yuzuru

I'm back to being nervous... The FS is another beast and that one still has quite some room to improve...

Well he had never won his first GP either, who is to say this won't be the season to end that Canadian GP silver streak?

I think we can be calm in the sense that he will win this, he will qualify for the GPF and even if Nathan, Shoma and him are tied at 30 points, the tiebreaker has every chance to go to him, therefore qualifying in 1st place for the first time in his career. So this makes for a great opportunity to work on the FS, another stepping stone to improve and get that FS ready for the Final, Nats, 4CC and Worlds

I am absolutely thrilled to bits by this program, I wonder if he plans to keep the 4S and 4T or if he wants to upgrade it to the 4Lo, it's a gamble since it might make the program more unstable, but he could earn a few more points if he lands it. Good luck on the FS Yuzu!

Dont feel nervous... since those competitions, it's also the country where he scored his highest ever SP score...so there is some luck for him...

I saw that the Spanish TV broadcasted the competition but I couldn't watch the stream because I was working. But I hope someone uploads it because I want to know what the spanish aunties said

He's not quite satisfied (the rest if the field go "huhhhhhh???????", so will keep striving for better. He is skating to please himself this year and himself obviously wants.... well, better that that!!!

Yes, he's human and could fumble. But I think it is true, the pressure to get that second Oly is gone and the knowledge that yes, he's done it and proven himself to the world, no one can touch his record, is giving him that freedom to skate for joy and perfection, and were I the other contenders watching it....

If there's one thing I can criticize today - it's the fact that the arena wasn't sold out

It may be tomorrow - it's the weekend, they will have heard he's on fire, and it's the tribute to their adored Plushy.

I am beyond thrilled - still nervous about tonight, I was just praying for him to get his 200 back at this one, I didn't think about him also taking back the 110.....

Thank you :) but I already seen this video as soon as someone posted it  I was hoping for CBC commentary or NBC (just to see how will johnny react. He must've very tormented between Yuzu and Chen )

NBC you won't get until Sunday if they decide to air the short. Usually they only show the free programs but they made a special consideration for Yuzu last week. Hopefully this week too. And then throughout next week they show all short programs on the Olympic Channel and full coverage of the free so there will be additional commentary. Hope it's Charlie again. But they've been using Ryan Bradley too and Wagner just started last week with NHK so who knows. I expect any of them to be wax poetic though.

What a beautiful skate from Yuzuru! I'm not ashamed to admit that I was in tears during step sequence!

If anyone in interested I recorded Yuzu's short program from Polish Eurosport. I've tried to translate comments into English. It's not perfect but I wanted to share this whit fellow Yuzu's fans (link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WD7lxfbHh4) :drama::yay:

Not surprised at the result at all. He's really flying this season.. I think this season might be his 2nd best season during his senior career. (1st being 2015).

I wouldn't be surprised at a season sweep or another WR very soon.. Please go clean tomorrow Yuzu! [emoji2][emoji304]

Charlie would be wonderful, I loved his Helsinki commentary, so appreciative and knowledgeable with it. And hoping for Kurt and Carol with Origin tonight..... it is so lovely jearing people who've been there and done it really appreciating how great he is.

I think I will go and have hot chocolate to celebrate

Ok I found Paloma and Susana's commentary of the whole men's SP. Unfortunately it's geoblocked but a VPN set to Spain works just fine. Here is the translation of Yuzu's SP :):

P: Well here we have the last skater of the evening. The heavy favorite, Yuzuru Hanyu. Strange of him not to wait until the last day (meaning the last GP event). But as usual he has competed in both of his events, curiously not at home at the NHK Trophy. But anyway, if nothing strange happens Yuzuru Hanyu will have no problems getting into the Final. Otonal by Raul Di Blasio.

(They kept quiet up until the 4T+3T, which they just called out)

P: Look at the changes of position on the combination (spin).

(Program ends)

P: if anyone wants to see an exhibition of step sequences, the counters, the rockers, everything, they should take a look at Yuzuru Hanyu’s step sequences. It looks like he goes from one end of the rink to another and he marks each step, with inside edge, outside edge.

S: No, no, no (as a expression used in disbelief).

P: And what else can we say, Susana? He’s got everything down to a notch.

S: I just keep quiet to enjoy this program, this skating, this skater. So little yet so much to be said, because it’s amazing the place where Yuzuru is getting to. The level of figure skating, because here it we have the word “Figure” in capital letters, I think. (Figure skating in Spanish His technique is amazing, the ease with which he does the quads, effortless, you can barely see it. The triple axel of course, for him it must be like a single axel. The changes of position in the spins he’s got “to give away and sell” and do everything with those changes of position with the arms, the hands, so expressive.

P: Each change of position supposes a level up, so it’s more difficult.
S: And he’s got the top level 4, we can’t give him anything more, in the spins, the step sequence, and well we’re at the beginning of the season, where will he end up at the end of the season?

P: He’ll make the GPF, he’ll win it. He’ll make it to Worlds, he will win it. I think it will be his 3rd or 4th World (title), he’s a 2 time Olympic Champion. I think what Yuzuru Hanyu will do is enjoy while skating. The challenge of each season to do everything right and build such beautiful programs and so well adapted to the music with these choreographies which in concrete were made by Jeffrey Buttle and Shae Lynn Bourne.

S: In this program, with every key of the piano there is a gesture, some artistic movement. Amazing. Here we have the 4T+3T, 1,2,3,4 revolutions and he goes after that triple, and adding the arms above the head, why not. And he follows up with artistic movements after that difficult and wonderful combo.

P: I can imagine the excitement of all of these followers, Japanese ladies watching Yuzuru Hanyu in Moscow…(spins show up), look at that.

S: Look at the positions in that sit spin.

P: That’s it. That’s it. How great, how great. (K&C) That team, with Tracy Wilson, Gishlain Briand, the choreographers, all of the team they’ve got at….

(Scores, seriously they were in disbelief)

S: Look at that, and he keeps going up.

P: He had 106 this season, I figure it was in Helsinki, now he has 110. And he keeps on going and he will keep going. Because he has 21 points over the second place.
