Oh God, I'm up since 3am and now at work, cannot concentrate at all. Damn you Yuzu, now you neither have a right to enjoy a good sleep

Maybe he’ll win more world titles (as he plans on continuing next season, as we know), but no matter what happens next, he made his mark. Yuna Kim is the referenced Queen and she won World “only” twice. ;)

True. More worlds wins for him is my personal wish, but at the end of the day what I wish for him is irrelevant. It's what he wishes for himself. And really even if he doesn't win another title, he is still Yuzuru Hanyu. Skaters will be trying to emulate him and skating fans and commentators will be referencing him for years to come. He has certainly made his mark.

I'm upset... because we did want it for him, but more for the fact that he is in pain, and I think the ongoing ankle problems mean we won't have him competing for much longer.

But no one can take the 2 OGMs away from him, and given the ages of the current and upcoming stars, the unforgiving 4 year cycle, and the even more unforgiving ice and technical content ... I wouldn't be surprised if it's another 50 years before anyone else can claim it.

So let's enjoy the finest and most beautiful figure skater of all time while we can, and look forward to lots of ice shows, both in the break and in the future. Let him have his 4A, skating gods, then whatever happens, let his injuries off for a while. He deserves so much more.

I just want to say, thank You Yuzuru Hanyu for what you have done for this sport, for magic you give us each time you appear, thank you for having desire and motivation to keep competing despite hardships and injuries . It has been privilege to follow your glorious path all these years.

Stay healthy and come back even stronger ! You worked hard !:luv17:

I got my clean Origin and I'll watch it 1000 times, but the jumps were not that high and confident as usually. Imo, without the SP mistake and without injuries and pain (= insane GOEs) Yuzu would have beaten Nathan. I mean, people who do not like Yuzu will say clean Nathan beat clean Yuzu by 10p today, but this is not the whole story.

But he didn't skate the LP 'clean' - he had a UR plus negative GOE on the 4S which meant he got less than 6 points. When you break it all down - it was the two 4S that cost him the gold. The 4S pop in the short cost him around 16 marks (across 9.7 point of BV, 3-4 points GOE & 2 point of PCS drop compared to CoF & CoR) and the botched 4S in the LP cost him 8-9 marks (7 points of BV + GOE and 1 -2 point of PCS too when you compare to the usual PCS he gets in the past).

Had he made those two 4S jumps, he would have overcome the 23 point difference even without a 4Lz, 4A, or 4F. The probability of the 4S mistakes happening would be less if he had more competition experience this season without injury, and the quality of his other jumps would have been higher too with more GOE. Which is why it hurts to hear that on top of the 4A, he wants to go for the 4Lz and 4F again (increased chance of injury..ahhh). A healthy Yuzu could bring him more marks than any of these jumps (it's no coincidence that the two Worlds he won was in 2014 & 2017 when he had no major injuries all season), but I understand why he felt compelled to since he likes to be one step ahead.

BTW over his adult career, the trend had been
2010/2011 - Healthy
2011/2012 - injured at Worlds
2012/2013 - injured before Worlds
2013/2014 - Healthy (mostly)
2014/2015 - injured all season
2015/2016 - injured before worlds
2016/2017 - Healthy all season
2017/2018 - injured all season
2018/2019 - injured before Worlds
2019/2020 - turn to be healthy right? please skating god

Just dropping by to say thank you to Yuzuru Hanyu for making me fell in love with figure skating :luv17:
You are still my world champion no matter what happens :clap::clap:

The footage of Javi watching Yuzu's FS. He is speaking in English but had a voice over and I can't hardly listen to him

Translating from voice over:

"4Lo is the most important (in Yuzuru's program?). 4Lo is the jump you take off on the right foot and land on the right foot. Hanyu's injury is on the right foot, which makes him harder to do the jump. I think if he lands 4Lo clean, everything is going to be fine."

"(looking at Yuzuru's in 6 minutes warm-up) This is the move of 4Lo. He is making sure of the move of his knees and ankles."

"Ganbare!"

"He is going to be in the 1st or 2nd place by this performance."

I love the reaction when Javier saw 4T-3A, he looked so happy :yay:

Coming back from another injury, missing comps for 4 months, again having to use painkillers to jump quads, using 2 new programs which he does not have much muscle memory of to rely on, yet Yuzuru Hanyu became the first man to break 200 for the free and 300 total score. He has broken world records 18 times. And he has continued his streak of not placing below second since 2014. This season, he's the only one among the top men to up his tech content, including a new elements for him in competitions. At the beginning of the season, he also tried new spin positions, new entrances to jumps..etc...

Yuzuru Hanyu is incredible. I hope people around him keeps reminding him that, since the boy is too hard on himself and the judges do not reward him enough. He's a gift to the sport and to us. Everytime he skates is a gift. And I'm forever grateful that I've got to witness his amazing journey.

I heard that small medal ceremony will be after Ice dance's, so probably it is going to be past 1 pm (one hour from now). I am not sure if there is live stream but I think we'll have video.
