I wonder if people recognize he is an athlete wearing the costume of a sport...

I bet a lot of people think he's a movie or music star.

It is interesting to read the comments by fans who share their routines for sleeping. I haven't read all of them (there are 744 comments already) but I noticed a fan said he/she tried some parts of Yuzuru's choreography that she was capable of  And many of them watch his performances before they sleep :)

(S)he's lucky (s)he can do that. I think it would backfire horribly for a lot of fans who skate competitively or want to. If I did that, I'd probably stay up all night trying to perfect it, googling workouts, using it as inspiration to choreograph my own programs, etc. Or "just one more program... just one more... oops, it's 3 AM..."

Speaking of Yuzu's choreography, is there anywhere that breaks down what each part is, like the turns in the transitions and step sequences and the parts of each spin and such? (English or Japanese are preferable, Russian is fine, other Slavic languages or French might work, too...) I've only ever seen one short one.

The Chinese advertisement introduces him as `Yuzuru Hanyu, figure skating champion' on both the posters and video ads, so the Chinese public won't mistake him for movie star, they will know him as the skating champion.

I find Yuzu's Russian fans do very thorough breakdowns of his programs, but I need Google translate to understand

Ooh, Russian is fine, too! Thank you. Do you have any links? I'll go edit my post.

I wonder how much increase in sales kose got for signing Yuzu up?
I hope its a value they are very thankful for and more trees to be conserved with it.

Hmm... the latest one I have read is this one for Otonal, it is very detailed. http://www.sports.ru/tribuna/blogs/dobroefk/2271509.html
If you click on the blog owner, you will find the analysis of his other programs too, including even galas one like for Haru Yo Koi.
From the breakdown of his program you can tell just how intricate and complicated they are. There are so many things he does that don't necessarily translate to points, but he still do it anyways.

I don't know about actual sales number, but Kose is a listed company so you can tell how well they are doing by share price. Needless to say, the share price commenced a sharp increase the day after Yuzu's endorsement was announced. Share price was around 18,000 yen at time of announcement and is now 20,000 yen, which is like an 11% increase! Before that the share price had been stalling between 18,000 -18,500 yen for a whole month. Of course there are many other factors going into share prices, but the fact the recent increase commenced right after Yuzu's announcement and continued on an upward trend can't be a coincidence right ;)

While we don't have any updates other than the blog and some magazines, I and my friends have been very curious about why Yuzuru will not attend the unveiling ceremony of his monument on April 29. This is Q&A between Sendai mayor and the press and the press really wanted to know the reasons for not having Yuzuru in the ceremony, but the mayor kept saying Yuzuru was only available on April 20, the day of "the design presentation", and he told them he really could not change his schedule unfortunately. Mayor also said if the construction of the monument was finished by April 20, they would have revealed the monument on that day and not planned "the design presentation" in the first place. But they really could not make it even though they tried very hard, so they could only invite him on April 20.

Now I can't help thinking "What is on April 29?" I mean, it is his monument in Sendai and I don't think he turned down their proposal easily, he loves the city and people there. I can't help guessing he has something very important on April 29. I thought about the royal family thing. I don't know if this became world-wide news (I hope so), but the new era "Reiwa" will start from May 1 and the ceremony of abdication of the current emperor is going to be held on April 30. And the news say more than 300 people will be invited to the ceremony including Prime Minister, politicians, representatives of the prefectures. But the fact is I am not seeing the word "athletes" or "celebrities" in the articles, so probably the participation of Yuzuru is slim. But then...what's his plan?

Well, maybe he will go back to Toronto before 29th, or he has some works to do on TV and other medias. I don't know, but to think about it is kind of fun :p

More like what has taken up his schedule between April 20 to April 29 since it sounds like he can't make any time later than April 20? Would a royal ceremony need 9 days of preparation? Can't be his training either, I am sure he could have easily moved that around for the monument reveal. Maybe he is filming another movie or commercial ? it would be cool if that is the case.

Why is it that my first thought was - maybe he has an appointment with some medical specialist to look at his ankles in another country... makes me I hate my thought process somehow 😩

well if that is the case, that is better than any royal gathering or commercial activities. Anything that gives him a chance of quicker recovery is welcomed.

I also think he maybe needs to be in Japan for something until April 29 at least because he can arrange the training schedule for the monument reveal if he wants. The ceremony of abdication will be something like this, so I guess the attendees don't have much to do other than watching and bowing (just my speculation). Anyway, we will be on holidays from April 27 to May 6, longer than usual Golden Week, and it will be the chaos with royal family events this year :drama:

This just comes to my mind... if Yuzuru Hanyu is the first to land a 4A not only be it historic but it will feel that history repeats itself. Since the first 3A was performed in Canada by a Canadian Skater at the 1978 World Championship. Next season, if Yuzuru is able to do a 4A (assuming —high probability, he will be the first one) at WC which will be held at Canada also. It seems like Yuzuru and Canada are destined for each other :dance2:

Wow I just knew that the theme(?) for Tokyo2020 would be something so close to his heart. I guess we will be seeing his involvements even though it’s a summer Olympics?

Hasn't Yuzu already filmed a commercial for the 2020 Olympics? with Nomura, the original Seimei as artistic director, and the theme of the Olympics being the recovery of Tohoku from the earthquake, I can't see how Yuzu wont be involved in the summer Olympics somehow.

On another note, after the Kose advertisement had been rolled out around China department stores, people had been asking store staff about Yuzu, and apparently there will be Yuzu posters, cups and t-shirts as gifts for purchases in June? If true, looks like this ad campaign will be around for a while.

I haven't purchased Kose products yet but will definitely wait until June...

Oohh right, I totally forgot about the CM with Shuzo! I’m looking forwad to see what kind of involvements he’ll make. I’m assuming he’ll probably be part of the torch relay?

Re Kose, I’m contemplating whether I should ask my local Kose counter about Yuzuru... I wonder if his endorsement is only meant for East Asia. I hope it will come to SE Asia as well.
