Shinya agrees with you on Kozuka's comment, he seems to be a very honest person. He says in his opinion, Yuzuru's performances in PC Olympics and the way team Japan moved a ball in the game with Poland in the World Cup are completely different and not for comparison.

Team Japan in the Wold Cup didn't attack and was not offensive at all in the last 10 minutes of the game with Poland and lost it on purpose because they chose it that way to advance to the next game, and Kozuka gave the explanation that it was the same with Yuzuru's strategy in PC Olympics in terms of having easier jumps and aiming for the clean skate. Personally, I don't take Kozuka's words seriously but he could have made different comments since casual viewers were likely to misunderstand him easily.

Since I don’t understand Japanese I’m giving Kozuka the benefit of the doubt on his comments, but I have seen a couple of people saying they are salty. I also don’t get the context of the comments.

0n the hand, I don’t understand the critique of Japanese fútbol team tactics, it has been done before and a lot, it’s even use in episode of Captain Tsubasa, ffs.

Oh wow yes that would also be amazing! I take the wild SP back and embrace the tango idea fully :luv17: And he should dress in black and red :D

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gcxv7i02lXc personally, this is my favorite tango :)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=As0QHcUSGYY also this

I was thinking this one

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JW9Jk2nnW28

it's one that hasn't been done (and Li'Kitsu's fault as she recommended this ages ago and it got stuck with me).
But yes, I like both of those too!

Just give us a tango Zu!

I really cannot imagine Yuzu doing tango, but if it comes with him wearing black blingy shirt and biting a red rose (Okay, this is getting cheesy) then I'm in!

🤣

Oh, so sorry! :( It may be unlocked soon.
Oh please don’t be. Thank you for always sharing the links! :agree:

I’m with you on both points.

The Japan team didn’t do anything wrong. I think some, especially those who watch the game just for entertainment, dislike the tactic because it was anticlimatic and didn’t satisfy them with the epic feel of achievement. It’s quite a common tactic in sports (I’ve seen it in soccer and basketball for sure), in my opinion.

Oh wow this is such a nice tango! I had never heard it before, and I can totally see why it would fit Yuzu! It's got the right intensity :D

Right? Mmm, I can just see him in black or red and mmmm
Honestly, I don't think he could have pulled off a tango some years back but now, with his maturity and intensity he is pretty much at the perfect age to truly do one. It's the post Oly season, he can let go :dev2:

Yuzu is mentioned here too. Can anyone give a summary?:p

I shared this video a few days back, but no doubt it's been buried in the pages. It covers the People's Honor Award
This TV presenter, Uetake, has had the opportunity to interview Yuzu for the last few years when Fantasy on Ice came to Kobe. He made two observations about Yuzu.
1. He has no "Ura/Omote" Translated directly back and front, but it means one face in public one face in private. -Yuzu's interactions are the same when the cameras are on him, and when they are not. And that it's difficult to describe, but he's like a fairy (sprite).
There's usually some kind of switch, when the cameras are on and off, but Yuzu has none of that. When the cameras are off, he's playing with kids, or being mischievous with other people, and that same mischievousness comes out on camera, and at the same time he's steady, and does that performance on ice. That's the kind of person he is.
2. It's not on this clip, but the next point was that his thinking was very fast when doing interviews. If I remember correctly, he said that Yuzu never gives an expected answer, he thinks on the spot and even if it's the same question over and over, he tries to phrase things in different ways or come at them from different angles.

EDIT: Looooool, I haven't been using text messaging or twitter long, so I'm not familiar with the abbreviations used in texting. I thought アナ was the guys name. But it's short for 'Announcer' heheheh. :palmf: I've fixed it now.

There were lots of negative reception/reaction towards Team Japan's last 15 minutes performance in that game. So no matter whether it's a common tactic or not in football, it probably should not be used as a comparison to Yuzu's PC victory. Just an unfortunately situation.

So no one's gonna mention the high school girl who went totally Hanyu fan mode and said he's super popular among high school students?

I saw the Tango SP posts and I thought it was actual news from Yuzu :palmf:

I wouldn't be opposed to it though! :hap10:

In Japan? I have listen to the negative comments in Latin America, but since comment is made for the country and Japan beat Colombia, I thought it was obvious they would take this side, it is silly to critic strategy...

Are fans in Japan going after Kozuka? Of all former skaters I think he is the one that care less about public persona, so I don’t think he will go out his ways to say something as Miki did, or try to explain his comments.

Wow thanks! I did miss it. I remember other people also mention how Yuzu is the same on and off camera. Really shows his character. And he did always think first then answer the questions. He took them seriously and almost never just threw out a generic answer.

Found this Top 10 most successful male figure skaters in the IJS era (2005-2018): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AieNS2bdwfk You obviously have to wait till the end for Yuzu.;)

That was fun to see but I was curious about the selection (because to me olympic medals are worth more than its world counterpart), so I assigned weights to the medals. I actually got the same placements even after assigning weights .
