I’ve been to the one in San Francisco and all of them are behind a set and don’t allow you to touch them, so I thought all these photos of people posing with and touching the costume were photos people took in secret.

You can touch them :agree: I guess they trust Japanese people to be more careful.

Yes, the whole set up of Madame Tussaud's in Japan is to take lots of selfies with the figures. I went there this year and it was fun. BUT Yuzu did not look as good as some other wax models. I think it is because he is so popular people are always touching his skin so a layer of paint has worn off. The skin does not look as real as other less popular figures.

Well clearly that just means it's time for a new Yuzu figure...perhaps of the Seimei variety. That opening pose is begging for it! :cool:

Tokyo is the only Madame Tussaud's I've ever been to, so I think I'll be disappointed going to one stateside knowing we can't touch them.

Also, a little OT: Speaking of Tokyo, you made a comment about when you were in Toronto and took pictures of squirrels. Well in Japanese class we read a dialogue about a New Yorker whose friend from Japan came to visit and she ended up really enjoying watching the squirrels in Central Park since (in her case) Tokyo doesn't have them :laugh:.

Tokyo has huge rats instead. :laugh:
 
Berkeley has a lot of squirrels that would wander around campus that were very comfortable around humans, they were cute. Sometimes at night you see rats running across the street, those were not cute.

On the wax figure, I thought you wouldn’t be able to touch them to hopefully preserve them longer, which I guess explains the peeling paint. I also vote for a Seimei one :)

Now I wanna see his wax figure. I was able to go to Madame Tussaud’s in Amsterdam. People were allowed to get close but I didn't touch anything.
 
Agreed! I wonder if this is why Yuzu is not inviting Japanese Media to film his new programs in TCC. Because they might create speculations again.

Yeah the 17-18 thread disappeared for now. Don't know what happened. Hopefully the mod will fix it soon.
