Yuzuru Hanyu: 2018-2019

I didn’t realize. Yuzu chose Notte Stella because of the stars he saw when he evacuated from the earthquake and tsunami. It does seem most of Yuzu’s exhibitions have and will continue to have the earthquake / revival theme.

I feel for Yuzu and it is heartbreaking to watch him in these events,
. I was about Yuzu’s age and living in Kobe when the great 1995 earthquake hit and lost a relative and the city was in shambles. Osaka was barely affected so I could still go to school , relocate and get a job there....I had the same guilt of having survived and living my life to the full when many died and were suffering and I could do nothing. This feeling has never left me, and it was really hard to see the 2011 earthquake news.

So really respect Yuzu for continuing support of the affected areas, but at the same time I hope he can continue supporting the area without feeling he has to sacrifice himself, or any other negative feelings for himself...

like they were playing ISU's guideline video for the +-5 system. I wonder how it was done in TCC. Must be something similar to this lecture. Of course Yuzu probably already studied everything before the lecture.

I didn't catch all of it, but they were specifically studying one of his triple Axels in part of it.

Good thing to study, oh yes... especially given that

Yuzu is leading the GS poll on best Triple axel-- because of course he is! https://www.goldenskate.com/forum/showthread.php?75013-Men-Best-triple-Axel

and that beautiful twizzle/3A sandwich during the Notte Stellata yesterday.

Mind you, I can't help wishing that there were more points for a single axel so that more folk would do it, as I have totally and unutterably fallen in love with Yuzu's (which makes a good thing to celebrate on my 500th post!!)

I know! I wonder if he could put one in a step sequence or something and have it count as a step. That would be pretty risky, but his delayed single Axel is just glorious.

And congratulations on your 500th post!

I'm hoping for media day next month!! Maybe Yuzu is just waiting for the perfect moment to invite the media to the newly crowded TCC! I do believe Yuzu will benefit from the anticipation of new programs when we know the titles of the program!

I do think - if he keeps it as his exhibition program - Haru yo koi will develop into something as beautiful, it's a masterpiece in the making
10th December 2016 - GPF men's free: first figure skating competition I've seen on television since my baby days in the 90s.
11th December 2016 - EX gala: I've fallen in love with Notte Stellata, Yuzu's skating and the sport itself

1st July 2018 - FaOI Shizuoka: Haru Yo Koi has superseded Notte Stellata as my all time favorite program. Every second gives me goosebumps from head to foot. Already. :o:

I like the music much better (though I have learned to overlay the original Saint-Saens which makes Notte Stellata even more exquisite...) and there is something free and sweet about his skating Haru, even though he was still in the final stages of healing and obviously tired more quickly...

But I don't know, I want them both! (and Requiem as well)

Guys what do you think are the realistic chances that Yuzu is going to 4CC next year?

I don't think he'll go. He went last year to try out the Olympic rink.
Well but no one can predict Mr. Hanyu so nothing is 100% certain.

I think, it depends on his health in the first place. If he's fit, I see no reason why he shouldn't go to 4CC. Yuzu said, he wants to compete in as many tournaments as possible this season and 4CC is the only big title that he hasn't won yet. Plus: there's no I-MUST-WIN-AT-ALL-COSTS-competition (Olympics) right after it, so... yeah, why not? :yay:

Plus, 4CC will be held in California this season. It is much closer to TCC than previous years so he may re-consider

Habu' wife (who's a big hanyu fan) posted something to support Yuzu:hap85:. Seems like no matter what Yuzu does, some people will find a way to criticize him:slink:.

translated by google.
I respect the activities of Mr. Hanyu's belief that we are directly confronted with the victims. It is very difficult to continue to support reconstruction. It is a good deed and the noise springs up somehow. I will convey the spirit of Mr. Hanyu without blurring of belief because I can deliver the energy because I am happy,,!

Did he say why? I'm torn between being happy as it may mean he wants to savour competitions after his involuntary absence, and being paranoid if it might mean some kind of goodbye plan... My gut says the former though. I don't think the 4A is easy to get competition-ready.

Nice try, Google. (To Google's defense, this is very Japanese phrasing and even though I understood it just fine, I had a lot of trouble phrasing it naturally in English.)

"I respect Mr. Hanyu's sincere and faithful actions in directly interacting with the victims. It is very difficult to continue to support the reconstruction. It is a good deed, and yet noise still springs up somehow. Mr. Hanyu's faithfulness never wavers, and I hope that his true intentions are conveyed clearly, as they can give much joy and energy."

My vote goes to option c) He's just very competitive
And yes: I think, he wants to give something back to his fans after all the withdrawals last season.

4A: the truth is, we don't know anything about Yuzu's attempts and progress yet. It could take years, it could be ready for next season... who knows... But I don't think that Yuzu's end of career depends on this jump only (Olympic Channel would cry rivers, if their new favorite Twitter face left the world stage next year already :laugh2:)
