Good decision by Yuzuru and his team, I hope the rehab will go well and he can go back to the normal training soon. And I hope he will skip Japanese nationals if necessary, he does not need to listen to the noise. It would be nice if we were able to see him in 4CC :)

Now I think I am going to take the time to read "Team Brian" finally. (I bought it around GP of Helsinki but I couldn't settle myself during GPS )

yude do share the most lovely parts when you're done please.

It was expected and while I'm sad I won't be able to see Origin and Otonal live :sad21:, I'm glad he's not risking his health. I have a free practice ticket for Wednesday if anyone wants it. Its middle section 104, row 13.

Well on the bright side, his withdrawal spares me having a heart attack anytime he took the ice, so while I'm sad he won't be there it's probably better for my stress levels. I've decided to bring my Pooh ears though so any of you still going will know where to find me. ;)

Like you said , it was expected but I'm so sad :sad21: These months of waiting are gonna be hard.I hope we can hear good news soon... :cheer:

If he's fit, I think he will.

He really wanted to skate in Moscow to pay his tribute to Plushenko and Russian figure skating.
He could do the same in Anaheim/California for Johnny and US skating, too. That would be the best stage for a great comeback :agree:
Plus: he has never won 4CC yet. The only major title missing in his XXL medal collection.

This season seems to be a time travel back to his origin indeed:
ACI in his new home Canada, GP Finland in Helsinki (THE place of positive memories), COR and 4CC as tribute setups and finally Worlds in his home country Japan...

Get well soon, Yuzu :ghug:

*Sidenote: I think it was faith that he announced his withdrawal today. I planned to upload a GPF preview video tomorrow (3/4 finished with Yuzu included), but it would've had a bittersweet taste after all... so I won't release it now but take the existing cut and adjust it for worlds :rolleye:
I wonder if Johnny will do live commentary at the rink during 4CC. Wouldn’t that be wonderful for him to get to see Otoñal in person. I hope Yuzu healed and healthy by then. 🙏

I think he will - he did live commentary at Skate America and 4CC is a big event. Hope Yuzu feels better soon!

Dont think he would be going to 4CC tho that would be lovely coz its so close to my place. He only went to 4cc three times out of his 8 yrs senior seasons, and there were good or not so good reasons each time:

2011 he did not get a spot for WC
2013 4CC was held in Japan; apparently as the new national champion he had to go
2017 because it was the same arena for Oly

This year, not so much; tho it would be a good test out before the big game

To his benefit, it's at least on the same continent so it's not that inconvenient travel-wise whereas it used to be in the past being in Asia all the time. It's a 5.5 hour nonstop flight to Anaheim from Toronto. I think there's a 50-50 chance if he is healthy enough and wants to get his feet under him before worlds.

I agree that if he's healthy and prepared enough he would almost always go to 4CC (unless it's an Olympic season), the last couple of years have just been extraordinary in that sense. If the recovery time is accurate, he may be able to make 4CC, but I think it's a little too soon. Maybe it'll depend on what type of rehabilitation he'll be doing and if it involves being on ice.

The more Yuzu competes, the greater the likelihood of further or additional injury. He did just fine at his two GP events; I see no reason for him to go to 4CC before Worlds.

Whoa, the second one put Russian raspberry sauce in the hot chocolate. Definitely copying that.

I wonder if Yuzu has ever had Russian tea with jam. Maybe Plushenko or TAT made him some.

Whaaaat, why do I suddenly want to make him tea and cabbage rolls as a get-well-soon present? I am way too young to act like a stereotypical Russian granny.

I want to thank him for announcing his decision to leave enough time for people to make/remake travel arrangements. He is well aware that fans travel to see him and that it's an effort both time and money. I do see sales from international fans and Japanese fans now that he's out; before I felt conflicted, but then I saw a tweet basically saying that it's better to give tickets to people who will still enjoy the competition and who still wants to go. Apparently tickets were hard to come by for local skaters/family/club mates, so some posted that they will give tickets if not sold to those who want to be there.
