The boots really look in good condition.
Makes me wonder did he really used it a lot or is he that cateful with his stuff.

One thing for sure is he always cover his boots when he skates, so that must've helped with the scratches.

Isn't part of it the sheer purity/quality of his jumping etc means that there's less wear on them? I thought I read that somewhere... I can also see him being taking extreme care, he seems to have that sort of personality.

They could have broken down just enough that he feels less support from them but not enough that anything is visible. Or they could hurt somewhere the lining broke down. Possibly a much lower level skater could even still wear them, although they'd probably have to be re-heat-molded.

I don't think you can reliably tell how much skates have been used by the number of scratches. No one ever told me there were different kind of skates, so I wore the same pair of secondhand, too-big recreational skates from age 10 to age 18. :palmf: The ankles are so creased that I could probably give an elderly coach a heart attack scare by showing them to him and telling him I did Salchows in them. I never covered them, but they're no more scratched than Yuzu's.

It was in an interview with the technician who sharpens/cares for his skates. They last much longer than usual because his technique is so good that it puts very little strain on them.

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/l510793227 Yuzu's boots are up for charity auction again this year. --I hope there will be less prank bids than last year and that they go to a good buyer.

It is 2.11 million yen now  (it was 1.8 million last night https://twitter.com/mnee170/status/1102910394740273157) I agree, no trolls this year, please. Samantha Thavasa still has been displaying Yuzuru's boots through the country, they are playing smart :)

Just received the main rink practice tickets from emtg.
I am so excited to see at least otonal or origin in UA

Brian Orser won the Gold on "Mizuno Sports Mentor Awards 2018", he will be awarded 2.0 million yen as prize money. Looking at the winners in the past, it seems this is the first time a person from overseas was chosen. Mizuno is a big company known for its sporting goods and Mizuno foundation is the main stockholder, and it established this award with JOC (Japan Olympic Committee) in 1990. I wonder if there will be the award ceremony, I hope there is. Congratulations, Brian!

Congrats to Brian! What an honor.

For those outside of Japan,
2M Yen ~ $18,000 US dollars, 16,000 Euro

Whoo, congratulations, Brian! Well-deserved.

I was feeling mathy, so I made this graph of all Yuzu's scores that are on Wikipedia. :luv17:

https://planethanyu.com/uploads/mon...Copy.PNG.029ec18d3e8e55399759e7b7836a14d2.PNG

The blue ones are his total scores. The slope (the number before the x in the equation) on this is the largest, which means his total score has risen the fastest with time. The R2 value is also the highest, which means that it has the least variation from the trendline. But that only means that it fits a linear model best, not that it has the least variation overall.

So, from this, it looks like his total score is his fastest-growing, but his SP score is beautifully consistent. Also, as he gets more and more difficult content, his scores vary more, which makes perfect sense given how hugely one missed element can affect the score at such a high level of skating.

And yes, the colors are on purpose to match his costumes and medals.

Oh so these stickers were supervised by Yuzu..I really love the pictures he picked and the design.....In fact every merchandise he designed this year are all so good looking , from the Ciontu goods to the music boxes and stamps etc. Even the lotte files were extra pretty this year (And our purses keep bleeding).

BTW, I have Yuzu's calendar in my house and I love it when guests come over, sees it and go `oh isn't he the Winnie the Pooh guy or isn't he the skating champion', without me saying anything, and none of them are even Japanese nor watch skating. And I live in Australia! He is a lot more famous than I thought.

Please tell us, Yuzuru, when was "today"?

I suspect this was taken during media day - you can tell his face is more round and plump here than the recent Laureus video. plus the photos on ANA website looks like its from Media day too...

Love the LINE stuff and thinking that Yuzu chose those photos lmao. Love the LGC call me one.
