Yuzuru Hanyu

So it turns out that - as many fans suspected - the hands were in fact Yuzuru's hands and it was in fact an early hint at a great collaboration which has just been announced between Yuzuru and AU, 2nd largest Japanese ITC operators.

The message then said:
Taking a Step Toward the Next Stage [emoticons of skates and snow :) ]
The 5th Year's Challenge, Together with au
".

Now they have announced their new collab called The Hanew Experience. What a wonderful wordplay, wow!
Details will be revealed later, nobody knows what to expect, but .. both the name and the visual disclosed so far are just ... awesome!!!

Oh wow!!! This looks so exciting - and the sheer contrast between this and the Disney pictures (and all the calendars coming out) again shows his range and the sheer breadth of his personality that shows through... this is fierce and beautiful (and I am clearly not the only one who thinks so, over 570K views so far

And yes, fanart is already coming out

Yuzuru Hanyu himself had given in the hints yesterday...

You can watch Yuzuru skating to Yuzu's Ikue, a song of hope dedicated to the 3.11. earthquake survivors, played live by Yuzu, tomorrow at appx. 8:30 pm on NHK One with VPN only.

It will be broadcast overseas too on NHK World Premium, available in various countries through some cable / sat operators. You might want to check yours :)

Here was the post by the Yuzu duo:

Art ex announced it too:

So I have just watched the live broadcast and it was wonderful. There was a short introductory interview with Yuzuru and with Yuzu members separately, some archive footage, some footage of Yuzuru creating the program skating with a phone in his hand :) , Yuzuru welcoming Yuzu to the rink (it was Xebio Arena not the usual Sendai rink), a short talk between them and then we went on to watch the main dish i.e. Yuzu skating to Yuzu playing "Ikue" live by the rink. Moving, beautiful, amazing,

Here's the link but I am afraid you need the NHK World Premium or VPN to use it from outside of Japan.

Here's a teaser NHK put on their official YouTube channel, just first 1 minute or so. Still it gives you the feeling of what it was like. Some beautiful skating, especially for those who like elements held long enough - Yuzu has a hydroblade, and a spiral here held for much longer than 1 second :)
The whole thing may still be watched on NHK One archive but still you need to be in Japan, in person or otherwise as you choose ;)

And here's a teaser for the teaser...

And here's the whole thing for those unable to transfer temporarily to Japan :)
It may not last long so enjoy while it does.

Notably, Yuzuru adapted his original program limiting his skating to a section of the rink close to the sideway stage where Yuzu played to make it easier for NHK cameramen to capture them all at one shot. Respect!!!

There's a special magic.... and yes, he thinks of other people and how to fit them like that.

I think that we may also thank the Yuzu duo for having managed to keep their voice by the side of an Ice Rink, which is not that frequent, as we can see in Ice Shows featuring live Singers. Yuzuru Hanyu always does his best to adapt, but certainly prefers, as here, not to have to.

I'm still so very late on fanart... with the reactions to the Pooh 100th anniversary collaboration announcement:

There's the sweet side of things, and there's the business side:

Reactions were rather overwhelming and I can't post them all...

This fanartist was celebrating the SharePractice fourth anniversary:

Here's SharePractice again:

Quite random footage of Yuzu dancing by the rinkside with his hood up which I have never seen before appeared on my feed and I thought I'd leave it here. Enjoy.
