Vincent Zhou: ‘It doesn’t define me’

by Paula Slater

Omnicron reared it’s ugly head, dashing the Olympic hopes and dreams of USA’s Vincent Zhou, who was scheduled to compete in the Men’s Short Program tonight at the 2022 Olympics Games.

“I’ve been doing everything in my power to stay free of COVID since the start of the pandemic,” he said in a video released on instagram. “I’ve taken all the precautions I can. I’ve isolated myself so much that the loneliness I felt in the past month or two has been crushing at times.”

The skater tearfully goes on to thank his teammates and hopes that he can compete at the upcoming World Championships.
