I think what's annoying is that yes Krylova made a mistake BUT the Russian tech specialists at Junior test skate and at a local competition didn't tell them it was illegal AND these judges have been watching them practice it all week. Russian tech specialists didn't do their job here and it isn't fair on these two kids to work so hard, only to be let down by the superiors around them who are supposed to guide them to success.

Well, they are doing their 2nd stage in Ljubljana and fingers crossed they can make up for the score & squeak into the final maybe…
They shouldn't worry about the Final. Even with the mistake this was the third-highest first event score so far, and there are only a couple of other notable teams that haven't skated yet (all of whom we'll see in Krasnoyarsk in two weeks).

Indeed, the entire podium in Kosice outscored all six medalists from Courchevel other than Wolfkostin & Chen.

Oh, nice to know. I know nothing about ice dance. My mom’s obsession with K/A made me watch it 😅

edit: 30 min and I managed to talk mom out of anything drastic and convince her that d’Alessandro/Waddell didn’t do anything wrong and are fine young skaters 🤣🤣🤣 and that K/A still have a promising season ahead. thanks everyone for ammunition!

K/A are a fabulous team. I understand your mom's obsession. That being said, I think the tech callers here were quite lenient compared to previous competitions. Especially in the RD...So, prepare your mom for a bit more disappointment if they have a stricter tech panel at their next competition. However, they should have no difficulty making the final.

Yes, I too thought the tech callers were more lenient here than in Courchevel. And that is a two-edged sword, especially in a team's first competition. It is not a bad thing to learn where your problems lie as soon as possible in the season. K&A should have been told to replace those turns on their knees after the test skates, for example.

Kaganovskaya/Angelopol still have some way to go in the skating skills department. They have interesting choreography and elements, are very expressive, but I find them a bit messy and choppy at times.
d'Alessandro/Waddell are smoother and more powerful, but for something like Swan Lake the port de bras need to be more refined and classical. Music cuts were also a bit chaotic. I think K/A need to work on their lower body, dA/W on upper.
Tyutyunina/Shustitskiy really stood out with their programme, Sokolniki always has cool music choices! I think they'll get comfier as the season progresses.
I slightly prefer Kudriavtseva/Karankevich when they're being weird, but this FD was also very pleasant. It's good they're showing range.
And way to go Mrazkova/Mrazek, :frown: --> :D was cute! Someday very soon they'll get a medal, I'm sure.

maybe they did and she thinks she understands English ..better,,, really all coaches before making a program read the rules
( my source ) understanding is she also was told about the music but still went to the first competition without listening to the specialist,

Just got around to watching these. I think D'A/W have a gorgeous Swan Lake, upper body included. Her especially.

Yes. Lenient and then also harsh for some. It's so odd how they didn't know this going in. It cost them so much. I will never understand how these things work.
