After the mysterious Recreational competitions, we are now starting the Free Skates for those categories that had Short Programmes yesterday. We will work our way up the levels, alternating between girls and boys. And we start with the Advanced Novices.

I was occupied with another competition today so had to watch Maurizio in the archived stream. It was a deserved win and his presentation is great. But I still don't like the new FS. The first part makes me depressed and then the cut to the Nemesis music is just unsuitable, imo. It's not really GP material.

I missed doing this yesterday. But, maybe that was a good thing, because she ended up finishing 2nd in the SP.

But, I want to show my support!!!

And you know what? I'm going to watch her LIVE!

For the most part, that was beautiful.

Just after the half-way point, she had a fall. And on the next element, she had a bad element. But, other than those, the only issues were slightly wobbly landings on a couple of the early jumps.

I haven't seen the other skaters, so I can't try to guess where she might slot in. But, it looked good to me, so I hope the Judges agree.

She goes into 2nd in the FS, and 2nd overall. So, she is guaranteed a medal!!! It's just a question of which colour.

I think the FS just fits the current world problems very well. Maybe they also planned another short to have a greater difference and ran out of time? We'll see where it will be when GP's there, there's still time

Yeah, I get the sentiment of the program, it's just that the figure skating I am watching already makes me reflect on current world problems enough. FS used to give me unconditional joy, and now it doesn't anymore, so I don't really appreciate overly depressive programs on top of that.
But that's just my personal experience and I was feeling a bit despondent yesterday. Maurizio is doing a great job with both of his programs so far and I am sure he will do even better in his first GP.
