Dear Members. During the first day of competitions at the Olympics we have noticed that many posters are completely forgetting that these are competition threads, as for actual skaters competing. They are not threads to express with whom you have an axe to grind, to express your political opinions, your issues about doping allegations, any issues you may have with certain countries or people, your opinion about cheating or not, disparaging comments about people experiencing mental health issues, and/or any xenophobic or homophobic opinions you wish to express. Such posts are contrary to forum guidelines in general but are especially off putting in competition threads. Please focus on what is happening on the ice.

Posts which contain such sentiments derail the thread and take the joy out of taking part in these threads for other posters who join in to enjoy the experience of watching a Figure Skating competition with like minded posters. The moderators are free to delete all such posts without warning, and will do so if this continues.

Olympic Ice on Peacock TV aired practice footage of a scary collision between Canadians James/Radford and Italians Della Monica/Guarise. Vanessa James really took the brunt of the collision blow and her face was really in agony as she was on the ice. Both teams were skating backwards at high speed and it reminded me of the collision at 1991 Worlds SP between Midori Ito and Laetitia Hubert where Ito famously skated outside the boards on her 3Lutz+2toe combo and ran into the camera man. Vanessa skated away in pain, but as of now James/Radford are still on the free program start list. Hopefully, she is not too badly hurt!

Yes, DM/G's music was playing and they were doing their runthrough. J/R appeared out of nowhere and slammed right into them. It's too bad that Vanessa got hurt, because she and Eric are doing the FS and D/MG are out.

Well the Chinese Figure Skating Fed has made me eat my hat by subbing in Peng/Jin for the FS! I'm so happy.

I was starting to think Team China had forgotten they existed or something!

I can't even remember what Peng/Jin's FS music is so I'm rubbing my hands in anticipation.

Also! Nastya and Sasha G have new FS costumes I believe and they're stunning! I won't post photos because if you haven't seen them it'll be so cool to be surprised when they come out

Russia isn't taking any chances. I thought if they went with their top women and pairs team they would give SK a a rest. They have a 3 pt lead I believe and if they can beat Russia in 2/3 final events they have it. And they have a chance in all 3 even if they went to TM in pairs and Trusova or Sherbakova in ladies.
