Nastia Golubeva is such a cutie.:love: Alena Kostornaia 2.0

I hope this competition won't phase them any they'll show much beter results in the furure, really like this pair. Plus age 17 and 21 is very young for pairs so I hope they have a great career ahead of them. (y)

Also, for anyone interested, this is the prize money (in USD) the skaters are getting for competing here and taking part in the exhibition:

PlacementWomen & MenIce DancePairsSynchronized Skating
1st25,00025,00025,00011,500
2nd18,00018,00018,00010,000
3rd12,00012,00012,0008,500
4th6,0006,0006,000-
5th4,0004,000--
6th3,000---

Explains why skaters are very, very willing to compete here even with tight schedules. Also explains why skaters might react quite sensitively towards losing a placement if they do not get a lot of monetary support from their federations like H/K.

Yeah, the Shanghai trophy has the highest prize pool of non-major competitions in FS. When I first found out about this tournament back in 2017, I noticed that top level skaters like Bobrova/Soloviev and Elena Radionova (she won in 2017 :)) took part in it. Only later did I realize that here one can earn more money than at Europeans and the same amount as at the GP Final.

Japan Open is another good example - 20,000 USD each for the members of the first placed team; 15,000 each for the 2nd placed and 10,000 for the 3rd placed team.

All of the skaters invited to Shanghai Trophy have a chance of being invited again for future editions if they keep competing (like Matteo, Hongyi and Guignard/Fabbri), and apart from the lucrative prize money, they also have a chance of gaining recognition and popularity among Chinese skating fans, which could allow for more money-making opportunities in the future. Particularly for those also competing in the Chinese GP.
