The 2024 Abu Dhabi Classic Figure Skating Trophy will take place Feb 15-18, 2024, at the Zayed Sports City Ice Rink in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. This international event will feature all the Singles (Women and Men) discipline at the Junior and Senior levels.

Just bumping this up since it starts today.

The other day I was complaining about it being hard to find out information about one of the other events this week, the Tallink Hotels Cup. Well, getting information about this event is like getting blood from a stone. There are no sign of the Entries / Results pages anywhere. On the event's website; on the Fed's website; on the venue's website; on the venue's Facebook; on the venue's other website; on the venue's other Facebook; on the club's website; on the club's Facebook. Nothing!

And it was exactly the same last season. I was only able to find out thanks to the mother of one of the participants reading the thread, and kindly joining the forum especially to contact me to give me the address so that I could share it with you. Unfortunately, that skater is out injured at the moment, and hence won't be competing here this year. (Get Well Soon!)

(I hope the Dutch girl that is now living in and representing the UAE is competing. I took a real liking to her last year).

She is! (Elisa Maria WESTERHOF in Junior Ladies).

And I see a few names that were in action only a few days ago at the Lõunakeskus Trophy in Estonia. So, with the quick turnaround and the travelling, this could be tough going for them.

Day 3 ended with the Advanced Novice girls doing their SP, and Day 4 starts with them coming back to do their FS. 14 girls, arranged into two groups of 7.

I don't like it when that happens, having the same skaters start the day that finished the previous day. And it's not like the Sarajevo Open yesterday, where the action finished early in the mid-afternoon the previous day. Here, they finished at 9pm last night. It doesn't give the skaters a chance to rest and recharge, and then prepare.

Whoa!

I just looked at the results of the Advanced Novice Ladies FS, and saw that skater #5, Amelija SOLDATOVA (LTU), was disqualified.

That's not something you see happen too often.

Does anybody know why?

For that matter, did she actually get to do her Free Skate? There is no mention of her in the Protocols.
