The marks were announced and only flashed on the board for a few seconds, so it was difficult to double check what I heard, so there are probably some mistakes.

The following notes are what I saw while the skater was on the ice and have not been checked against the protocol for mistakes. As usual, my dance notes leave a lot to be desired, but hopefully they give you some sense of how they skated.

CAN Lockwood / Fieldhouse Start No: 1
Notes: her in dark red halter with ruffle skirt him in black / 10th after CD / diag steps in sync seem a bit simple / music change to very familiar sax / spin in sit ch to facing bent knee is nicely done / sbs steps a number of problems him at start her 3/4 through / rotational lift with her in catch foot - he fell / they had a nice lift with him in low pos earlier in the dance, but it wasn't a good skate / 17.34 13.14 ded 2 tot 28.48 gr tot 51.70 / currently 1st

Notes: her in orange short asymetrical skirt him in black with bit of orange sequins / 13th after CD / music is lively and they're skating to it / diag steps were quite well done / spin with ch travel a bit but not bad / music slows for curve lift with change of pos / they're quite slow but are skating to the music / music picks up for midline / twizzles were very deliberate but in sync / strt lift with her going to his shoulder then upside down & him on one foot / 20.47 13.63 violation 1 tot 33.10 gr tot 55.50 / currently 1st

CAN Wilson / Goodman Start No: 3
Notes: her in lime green him in black / 14th after CD / something romantic with vocal / nice movement to opening bars / strt lift with him in crouch her backwards on his kneeds / spin was ok / midline - 1st twizzles bit out of sync he fell out of 2nd /diag steps twizzle to start was nice - rest has good flow / they're faster across the ice than the other teams but are doing more stroking than the others / rot lift almost had the look of a headbanger / 18.07 12.96 tot 31.03 gr tot 52.71 currently 2nd

CAN Bourgeois / Allain Start No: 4
Notes: her in lemon yellow with silver sparkles him in black / 12th after CD / familiar italian soft / very flowy movement - nice / curve lift with him in spread eagle / midline - 1st twiz are nice 2nd she had trouble going on toepick and putting them out of sync / spin is pretty both in low pos her resting leg on his knee / music change / diag steps use edges to gain speed - nicely done / rot lift to end the program / 21.63 15.07 tot 36.7 gr tot 59.49 currently 1st /

CAN Johnson / Scott Start No: 5
Notes: her in dark pink patterned dress with ruffle him in black / 15th after CD / music starts with 'falling into you' / curve lift him in spread eagle her upside down / diag steps are pretty good / they have a nice feel for this piece of music / spin facing each other on bent knee - no pos change / music change - faster now / midline twizzle were a little out on both sets / one handed rot lift with her foot to head / 20.15 13.52 tot 33.67 grtot 54.89 currently 3rd /

CAN Puttkemery / Oleksvszak Start No: 6
Notes: both in black with silver sequins / 17th after CD / spin him in back sit her in forward cam / curve lift him in bent leg pread eagle deep curve - nicely done / diag step 1st half on one foot / music change to fast / really moving with the music - I'm enjoying this / rot lift no hands her leg around his neck / midline - he's stronger than her - 1st twiz were good 2nd she lagged behind / 20.16 13.61 violation 1 tot 32.77 gr tot 49.?? Currently 6th /

CAN Farrell / Romanchuk Start No: 7
Notes: pink & yellow flowered dress him in black with matching design over one shoulder / 11th after CD / midline - none of the twizzle were in sync / some nice dancing after that / music change curve lift him in bent leg spread eagle / went into spin like pair skaters - I don't like that - spin was ok / diag steps were ok - click blades at one point / rot lift with her wrapped around his body / 19.65 14.27 tot 33.92 gr 57.09 currently 2nd /

Notes: her in dark peach him in black / 16th after CD / soft & romantic french female vocal / diag steps moved with music / musicbuilds for curve lift him going to one foot - looked a bit awkward / music change for midline - he stumbled on 2nd twiz - 1st 3rd on one foot / spin entry like pairs facing bent knee very slow / rot lift with her in catch foot / it was a lifttle rough & jerky once the music sped up - pretty smooth with the slower music / 15.09 11.91 tot 27.00 gr tot 48.99 currently 8th

Notes: music: Europa & Mambo Swing / her in lime green with black him in black with lime green open shirt / 6th after CD / diag nicely done - close together / spin him in sit her in catch foot change to sit / upside down curve lift him on one foot / music change midline 1st half on one foot - nice sync throughout twizzles good / rot lift her in catch foot - nice & lively for 2nd half / 24.71 18.65 tot 43.36 gr tot 69.85 currently 1st

Notes: her in black with lots of illusion & pink skirt him in black / 1st after CD / nice movement to start right into rot lift with multiple changes of pos / diag steps right away you can see a big jump from the other teams - very smooth & quiet / music change to dance with me / cur liv with her at his neck in catch foot / spin her in catch foot change to facing sit / midline no pause into it very well done twizzles at end in perfect sync / now that was a DANCE / 26.01 23.03 tot 49.04 gr tot 81.32 currently 1st /

CAN Mckenzie / Gfeller Start No: 11
Notes: her in black with pink sequin trim him in pink shirt & pink & grey pinstripe pants / 8th after CD / curve lift with her upside down / spin in sit pos no change / music change & some dancing in place / diag steps lots of deep edges & fairly fast but simple looking / midline in sync with an intersting move on their heels / one arms rot lift with her in split / 23.21 16.22 tot 39.43 gr tot 63.34 currently 3rd /

Notes: muddy dark blue & rust him in jeans / 4th after CD / spin in sit pos change to back sit well done - fast / dia step she fell on twizzle / their movement is really good 7 they have good speed / rot lift with change of pos / midline twizzles are fast - nice seq / curve lift with one hand / 21.62 18.95 fall 1 tot 39.57 gr tot 67.95 currently 3rd /

Notes: her in pink him in black - costumes look like clone of navka & kostomarov from last year / 2nd after CD / look of love / good dancing to start / midline 1st half on one 1foot twizzles are good at centre not quite as good at end but still ok / music change for spin her in low camel him in sit / curve lift him in squat her upside down stretched out / music change diag steps were good but there seemed to be an awkward move 2/3rd way through / rot lift had a bit of a slip coming out of it / 22.63 20.12 tot 42.75 gr tot 73.07 currently 2nd /

Notes: her in hot pink with lime green trim on skirt him in black with hot pink accents on top / music: samba de minha terra / neat chor at strat right into midline good sync in both twizzles - nice seq / curve livft / spin in facing sit - no pos change / some dancing in place as music changes again / nice move in hydro blade / diag steps / one arm rot lift right into closing pose that was a bit awkward getting into it / 23.64 16.25 violation 1 tot 38.89 gr tot 65.29 currently 5th /

Notes: both in black with dark green / 3rd after CD / Historia del amour / mambo #5 / spin is very elegant looking / diag steps had a nice smoothness / curve lift in low pos her upside down / music change & some dancing at centre ice - fun / midline twizzles were long but both sets got a tiny bit out - fast too - did them better in warmup / hydro blade move by both / rot lift her vertical him holding her by one leg - really unique and it worked / 23.39 18.29 tot 41.68 gr tot 71.27 currently 3rd /

CAN Rettino / Whitehead Start No: 16
Notes: her in yellow him in black / 5th after CD / music: twelve - romantic volcal / midline her last twizzles were a bit jerky other than that it was well done & in sync / curve lift her with foot to head / spin in cathc foot change to sit / music change - some nice dancing / dia step are good / rot lift with change of pos / nice moves into closing pose / 23.71 1727 tot 40.98 gr tot 68.72 currently 5th /

CAN Knippel / Doleman Start No: 17
Notes: her in hot orange & fushia him in black with matching sleeves / 9th after CD / Mentrioso & she bangs / diag steps - they were 1/2 way through before I realized that's what they were doing - pretty good / didn't see the lift / spin with change of pos good speed / change of music / there speed has increased / midline is well done excellent speed at start twizzles in sync / rot lift with her around his body / crowd loved it - but I think it was as much the 'she bangs' music that got them going - they're also home-town kids / 23.10 16.51 tot 39.61 gr tot 62.87 currently 9th /

Dance coverage - Good Going!

Thank you for commenting on and posting the Dance events - it often gets overlooked and yet it is one of the most competitive & challenging disciplines, requiring technical precision and an illusion of effortless ease from both partners. The flux in partnerships from season-to-season also makes it one of the most-watched and talked about disciplines from a Skating Forums point of view. Keep up the good work!
