Olympia plans finger-crossing for Skate America (on behalf of Czisny).

Wouldn't it be great if she landed a triple-triple? The Upper Midwest could get all its energy for a week from the combined wattage of Yuka's and Alissa's smiles.

That's about the last thing I expected out of her- we'll see if it materializes or not- but if true, and if she can pull it off, stay healthy, etc. props to her for finally getting out of her comfort zone and making things happen.

I guess it's fitting that she attempt it at 2011 Skate America, since I think the last time she attempted a 3/3 was at 2005 Skate America.

The backend triple toe was downgraded to a double, though. http://www.isuresults.com/results/gpusa05/

Even in her best free skates last season, she usually had at least one solo triple called underrotated, so I am unsure of how she is going to accomplish getting that backend triple ratified. But perhaps the current rules make it so that it's worth the risk.

I just can't see it happening, though I'd be happy if it did. Alissa doesn't really carry a lot of speed into or out of her jumps, not to mention she's not a very powerful or big jumper either. I just can't see her tacking a 3t to the end of her lutz BUT I'm anxious to see if she can do it and I'm glad to hear she's planning on upping her technical content or at least trying to. I wish we'd hear the same thing from skaters like Mirai, Ashley and Rachael...we always hear them talking about 3-3s but they so rarely materialize. I'd love to see some commitment to actually doing it...not just talk.

I'll tell you one thing: if Alissa goes for her 3lz-3t, ALL of them better go for a 3-3 because Mirai, Ashley and Rachael are all stronger jumpers than Alissa. She'd put all of them to shame if she pulls that off...

Alissa  is not exactly brimming with confidence about the triple Lutz/triple toe. She says she'll try it...

"If it’s consistently clean enough to not lose any points."

Does she mean that she'll try it if she feels that a wobbly under-rotated triple-triple might still get her more points than a pretty good triple double?

On the other hand, the triple Lutz is one of her best jumps. She never gets an edge call and lands it more consistently than many "easier" jumps.

With the current lineup at SA, she might be able to get away with trying the triple/triple there.

I love both her music choices. Perfect for her. She won't be showing a new side of herself with those choices but they do fit her perfectly and at least they are not tired war horses. At least I don't think they are. People can correct me if I am wrong. I hope she is able to show some passion with the more dramatic sections for the Valse Triste. I think she will be able to. With La Vie en Rose, it seems that she's going back to her more character-driven selections of the past, which is fine with me. I think she interpreted those well. Last year, I liked both of her programs but they were a bit too similar and so the SP ended up being on the forgettable side for me. I'm glad this year her selections are completely different from each other. (But still very Alissa)

Re the triple triple, I believe it when I see it but it's great to hear she is practicing it. Shows she is pushing herself and trying to be aggressive, even though I'm not holding my breath for it to show up in competition. Still, the two she is practicing would probably be the most realistic for her if any are.

I think she can land it. If she really trains really well and really focuses on this combination then she has it in the bag.

The best thing to do I guess- is land a triple-double-double twice in the program and a double axel combination with doubles or triple toe. She should work on the elevation of her jumps to really hit the triple triple!

She has a great coach and great friends who push her and teach her as well their techniques!

She went from 10th at Nationals and missing the Olympics to National Champion and top 5 at Worlds a year later...she surprised many, even me, (a little:p), and who knows... a clean/consistent 3Lutz/3Toe or 3T/3T might be the biggest surprise yet. Here's hoping for a great season for her, and the best of luck (cause lets face it, Czisny doing a clean 3lutz/3toe? shes going to need all the luck she can get! ;))

Can't wait for the season to start!

This is exciting! If all the women bring their A game, the sport will benefit!

The good thing her is that her coach Jason is a technical specialist so he is going to know based on what she is doing in training if her 3-3s in training would be ratified or not.

Also, due to a relatively weak field, Skate America is a great place to attempt this. Plus, as long as she lands the jump, even if the second triple is under-rotated or fully downgraded, she won't be any worse off than if she had simply done the 3z-2t. She should have no problem medaling at Skate America, and in my opinion, is probably favored for gold. I'd say a clean Czisny beats a clean Kostner any day.

Makes me wonder if a rather weak jumper like Alissa is going for the 3-3 what's holding back someone like Mirai who's younger stronger and a more powerful skater then Alissa is. Alissa seems to be going for it this year. Not sure i can say the say for Mirai.

Frank C talked at Champs Camp about 3+3s for Mirai and 3A. Right now for both Alissa and Mirai, that's what it is - TALK. Once they actually attempt them (successfully), then it becomes action.

In days gone by, Carroll used to say that Michelle Kwan was working on a triple axel (which was somewhat true, but working on it is not the same as executing it well which is not the same as it being competition ready).

I take all "jump talk" with a grain of salt until the skater's team either releases a vid of the skater landing the jump/combination cleanly or they execute it somewhere publicly. Even then, that's nothing like having a jump ready for competition, so it doesn't mean that much until they bring it to the ice during competition.

I believe that Mroz has a quad lutz because I've seen it and he executed it at a competition (albeit a minor one). I will believe that Mirai has a reasonably reliable 3A when I see it.
