Good thread!

I think many of you will roll your eyes but I will have to pick Carmen for my freeskate. I always dream about skating to that music, the music cuts I would pick, which element with what..the dress i would wear etc.

For the SP I think I would have to say music from the Illusionist. Dramatic, original and intracate.

lol, mine would be:

SP: Les Mepris (Contempt), Theme de Camille by Georges Delerue ----- one of the most beautiful pieces ever created!!:love::love::love:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUs4awmb3-o

LP: Adagietto by Gustav Malher --- I loved this piece of music waaaayy before V/M chose it as their FD.....Mahler created the most ethereal piece ever!! So much meaning and emotion.

Herbert von Karajan conducted this piece the way it was supposed to be played:

There is nothing wrong with Carmen lol

Not Scherezade! Most overused music in skating. People seem to do well when they skate to it though....it's interesting.

SP - Por Una Cabeza
LP - Rach No. 2

I know my choices are extremely unoriginal, but I absolutely LOVE those pieces.

Very interesting question--and hard for me, too... I don't have just one choice. :D

For SP:
a. "Iris" by GooGoo Dolls--It would have to be very skillfully edited, though, to fulfill the time requirements. I'm thinking of an instrumental version akin to Shen/Zhao's "Who Wants To Live Forever" music.
b. Selections from Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No.2

For LP:
a. Selections from Rachmaninov Symphony No.2 (particularly the 3rd movement)
b. Selections from the Spring Waltz OST
--This is music by Jisoo Lee (please correct me if I spelled it wrong) from the Korean drama. I'm thinking the tracks "Flower Petals" and "Love Poem"

For EX:
a. "Ice Dance" by Danny Elfman (from Edward Scissorhands)
b. "Turning Circles" by Sally Dworsky (from The Cutting Edge)
c. "The Light in the Piazza" from the musical of the same name
d. "Fureai" from RomeoXJuliet -- I have the feeling, however, that this is better suited as an exhibition music for many pairs/ice dancers twirling around...

A bit off-topic: my brother is STILL waiting for someone to skate to "One-Winged Angel" from Final Fantasy VII. One of Daisuke Takahashi's fans set a video of him to this music, but it's not quite the same thing, isn't it? :)

SP: Sentimental Waltz (best Sasha SP ever, rarely done now since)
LP: Legends Of The Fall (very underused) or Clare De Lune
Ex: Bad Romance (with a blonde wig) or Mon Coeur S'ouvre A Ta Voix from S&D (the Sissel version or the Filippa Giordano version used by Merlie in 2009 and Irina back in 2002)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ir0Ucy-dQgg (Sissel's version)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qql51Zj9e_E (Filippa's version with Irina skating to it)

SP: instrumental version of "Money" by the Flying Lizards

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=598nWAiqW8I

LP: Moldau (Vltava) by Smetana (whole thing, hell with time restrictions)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsP-RhaAeDg

Ex: old bollywood song : Baharon mera jeevan bhi sawaaro

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdSLCHoGzC8

Encore: theme from Stingray!

If I were unhappy with the judges marks I might substitute Hamburger Lady by Throbbing Gristle as the exhibition

For SP:
Arirang rhapsody http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrT-am3rek4 (though perhaps it's a tad too short)
or this piano piece http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axtV6kmWucs

For LP
Ein Weiner Waltzer (Viennese Waltz) by Adiemus http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qv8ey1BZmkc
Mozart's Serenade No. 10 (Gran Partita), Third Movement, Adagio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfUiv3miTi0
And not that I want to perform to this, I'd love to see SOMEONE (i.e. Johnny Weir) skate to Bohemian Rhapsody.

And I'd skate to 'So What' by Pink for my exhibition :D

I think I would pick a Carmen medley for my FS too! I love, love, love listening to Carmen. The Habanera would make for an exciting footwork sequence.

For the SP, I am not sure, there are too many wonderful choices for just one 2:00-2:30 minute program.

I love Mahler's Number 5, but I don't think I could skate to it--to me that is forever Ekaterina Gordeeva's music. I know Katia doesn't own that music, but still it wouldn't feel right for me to skate to it knowing what it symbolizes for Katia. But I do like Virtue/Moirs Mahler.
