According to media articles I've read (in Japanese), Kanako is very keen to become a skating coach and believes that she needs to lead "a normal life" to relate to her students better. An interesting insight for a 19-year-old. Though I imagine there will be considerable pressure on her to stay after the Big 2 (Mao and Akiko) retire, especially if she does well at the Olympics.Makes perfect sense if that's what she wants most. That's why I quit, although I of course wasn't skating at an international level.
