Yulia Lipnitskaya

There's a saying in Russian: don't argue with a fool. He will first downgrade you to his level and then he will win with all his experience there.

“Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.” George Carlin

We use a lot Mark Twain quote: Never argue with a fool, onlookers may not be able to tell the difference.

You mean, prepare for battle? ;)

The phenomenon "Lipnitskaya's admiration" with which many are at war, consists of several components - programs, the personality, achievements, actually sports skill. And sports skill, here far behind the rest. On quality of the program in last season and charisma of the personality Yulia isn't present equal among figure skaters. I don't even add IMHO because for me it is indisputable.
That, however, doesn't guarantee it triumphal achievements in the next season at all.
But only it would be desirable to call all warring with Yulia's phenomenon, let's support the favourites, but not against their competitors!

"Juniorish" FS assumes teenage angularity and awkwardness. Julia Lipnitskaia never was angular and clumsy. I for the first time saw it at a stage Gran Prix when she was 12 years old, and was surprised as far as the horeografy and is graceful such little girl.

It can be told about Yu-Na Kim at its age, but not about Julia https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcUQLJ_sDkI

Don´t know if this is what you´re looking for, but this is a version from the European Championships with commentary from Tara and Johnny.

Oh, after watching it so many times, I still cannot keep my eyes dry ...:love:

Regarding Yulia's hate on Golden Skate - I've already two warnings due to standing up for Russian skaters on this forum, so I'll confine myself to:

papa, please be careful. Let other people say whatever they want. Responding to them just makes them even more excited.
We should learn from our Yulia --- Stay Focused All The Time. You do not have to read other threads. We need you here.

You were warned regarding "insulting" posters and with your negativity. Enough with the slander. Please try to stay on topic and keep this thread positive. Thank you.

According to some sources in Yuzuru's thread, most skaters from North America will arrive China in 4th November. I guess Yulia will be there in 5th November at least since Russia is closer to China.

Thanks you :)
Yes, I guess that would make sense.
I'm so exited, can't even wait for the practice videos (but some said it might be difficult for people to get into the practice sessions? ), leave alone the actual competition :yay:

All the Russian players will arrive in the same flight at 9:45 tomorrow.
Miss Julia so much……Plan to go to the airport tomorrow to see her at the first time. But I can only go by myself and I'm not sure if I would dare to say hello to her...
My pretty girl, welcome to Shanghai~

I am very glad you posted this idea. If I were to choose one attribute that best describes her, it would be that she possesses so many outstanding qualities. It would be impossible for me to order them. If her skill does lag the rest, it is only because everything else about her is off the charts. To me, her athletic skill is unequaled. If we don't judge her only by spins and jumps, but include her incredible movement throughout the complete program, then we can appreciate all that she has accomplished. She is doing so much physically we can't see it all by just watching her skate, she does so many movements so quickly the eye can't take it all in. I reached a new level of appreciation for her physical skill by rapidly freezing-unfreezing videos so that I could watch frame-by-frame. Try it with https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YaVfbMwtO0 beginning at about 1:30 . Freezing continuously reveals a world of intricacy that I would otherwise miss, it is like a microscope for her movement. It is hard to believe anyone could bend the human body into such incredible shapes so rapidly, and for more than a very few seconds. Surely this is at least as difficult as jumps. Notice also the fingers and head, which remind us that these shapes express music, nothing is random. It's a mind-boggling display of athleticism, she is really coming into her own. Any human who can stand up to that routine must have Wonder Woman and Superman as parents.

Um no, the Ladies SP is on early Friday morning in the United States... we're about 2 day and 8 hours away...

I could have sworn when I checked the schedule the first it said it was a 5:30 on Saturday, and then I counted the time difference the wrong way. Oops. :slink:

I am curious, they arrived early a day, so there's no official pratice rink for them until tomorrow. Did they practice today in other ice rink?
