Alexander Petrov

Yes I agree, I was so impressed by how much his skating has improved and matured since last season. Just on video his SP made such an immediate impression on me, I can only imagine how great it must have been to see it in person. :)

I love this program a lot and it was a smart move for him to choose this music.

Thank you, adelia! Yes, I love it too - and it's clear so did the audience.:) And just look at him after he's finished - cool as a cucumber! As if it was all no particularly big deal... :)

But yes - that is easily one of my favourite programs this season - any category!

Yes, I also thought he looks older. And I'm glad Dmitriev cut his hair, too. :slink:

I think Sasha can easily win this competition. Maybe Gorshkov could come close, I don't know.

Well, this will be a mini pressure test for Sasha. He had a similar lead over Dmitriev Jr at Nice but Gorshkov is a little more consistent than Artur. We'll see how Sasha handles this one tomorrow.

I haven't followed him long enough - only a month or two! - so I cannot claim to "know" him really, but... I would expect maybe a few minor mistakes - but not an implosion. I would guess that he has taken the Papa Mishin maxim to heart: "You can only lose to yourself." :)

Harsh judging from Judges 1 & 7. -1 GOE for the lutz, you kidding me?? Same gripe I had with some of the marks from Finlandia tbh.

FS order: Sasha skates first in the final group, Gorshkov last. Can't say I'm pleased about this. But we shall see.

Edit: Why wasn't the lutz credited as being in the second half of the program?? This is strange. :(

Gorshkov isn't a threat, he hardly has a triple axel and I've been ubering him for years :slink: If he was, he would have been given Kolyada's RC spot by now.

Decent score, but Sasha popped the flip. It probably would have been 150+ if he had skated clean. He looked pretty pissed with himself in the K&C. Seems like a perfectionist, which is good. Ambition is good.

Edit:
Congrats to Sasha on winning his first gold in a Challenger Series event! Hopefully a sign of more things to come. :) It would have been better to have had a clean skate, but a win is a win. Mishin's boys take gold and bronze. Congrats to Artur too, despite the mistakes, his best skate this season.
