2014 Cup of China Mens Free Skate 11/08

I don't think they have the proper equipment (and maybe even personnel) to extensively check him out. I hope he delays his flight home.

No sorry, I wasn't meaning that he get checked out by anyone at the venue, I meant going to a hospital.

cup of china by the way always has terrible performances and drama. It should be relocated.

Yuzuru couldn't get up on his own and needed his team to support him off K&C.

In happier news...Misha Ge was 3rd in the FS and went up two spots to get in the top 5. :) Great job.

And with Ricky D's bronze, the US men have medaled at every GP event so far.

Can we have a chorus please of The Sunny Side of Life?

ETA: Apparently Mrs P types faster than I do! :)

Mishe Ge, Nam

Nam did well when he skated first right after that incident. He was by far the one who stuck to his performance for the final group (not dazed or popping that much like the rest of the group)

And he did well even though his coach was probably with the injured skater...
I wish I could give him some medal or a teddy bear or something!

Best performances of the day: Dormbush 1st; Misha Ge 2nd. Don't like Nam at all (sorry all you Nam fans). Kovtun uninspiring, Hanyu overmarked. What a disaster!

i get that hanyu is injured and all but that PCS is just ridiculous. I mean his 5 FALLS would atleast affect his PCS. Unfortunately his fall during the warm up was more weight in compare to his 5 Falls during his routine. We love drama and all but that should not affect the judging.

Richard should have won. Sorry for him he doesnt have the drama and reputation to back him up

Congratulations Ricky!

Should've been up for silver/gold to be honest. But whatever. His first GPF medal should have the USOC turning heads in his direction. Deservedly so. :)

It's killing me that Yuzuru had the highest TES...and Yuzuru got so many -3 GOE's too.

TOO MUCH DRAMA.
Imagine if it was primetime in the US??? Think of the viewership????

Again, I personally thought that the judges scores are not allowing Kovtun's Presentation Score to grow naturally. It's still too high for what he showed today. In saying that, he was the best skater on the day and he stayed on his feet so I guess he deserves to win.

I generally agree with that... Kovtun's PCS made Hanyu's seems undermarked lol.. PCS is a funny beast! I swear, sometimes the judges seem more PCS challenged than the skaters.

Dornbush deserve over 80 in PCS. Misha in high 70s. Fav program Dornbush, fav performance Misha.

BLOODY MESS. All event is messy as hell. But mens competition was beyond everything. Terrible, terrible day. Good luck to Hanyu and Yan, I hope they'll be okay.
Richard on the other hand should be happy :) The medal has dropped right in his hands, literally. No way he would medaled without this bloody collision. And no way Kovtun would win too.

Maybe not always. ~_~ The favored skaters' PCS don't take a hit when they fall -- in fact it's what props (selected) skaters up when they make a hot mess on ice.

inflation is the only exception I can think of and to this day, no one understands why that even exists. Yuzu's PCs have followed this rule for as long as I can remember so something cray went on today.

Wow that was the most emotional competition in a while. I'll never forget it, that's for sure. I didn't see the crash happen, did Eurosport show it or did they come in later? Anyway, I had tears in my eyes during Yuzuru's performance. I was afraid he would collapse. But how he fought and what he did and how reacted at the end, for me he is the true hero of this Cup of China. What an awesome man. He is a gift!
