2014 Cup of China Mens Free Skate 11/08

i get that hanyu is injured and all but that PCS is just ridiculous. I mean his 5 FALLS would atleast affect his PCS. Unfortunately his fall during the warm up was more weight in compare to his 5 Falls during his routine. We love drama and all but that should not affect the judging.

Richard should have won. Sorry for him he doesnt have the drama and reputation to back him up

I really wonder what it means to be included for PCS.. Falls? Step outs? But isnt that overlapping with tech scores?

But I do agree this isn't his best work, and artistry was amazing for what happened but not his best.
Oh wells... I dont know what is a fair scoring or not! Probably feeling/expressing the same way as Kovtun's team right now. Bewildered.

The Japanese telecast of the whole saga was so distasteful, with a sensational caption saying, "Hannyu to skate after the BIG incident". The commentators were praising him for his effort and apparently this event is "a night that will be remembered by the skating fans forever." No wonder figure skating is not taken seriously. Hennyu should be reprimanded for going out there with that injury. Showing such a poor performance after he and his team had failed to make the right judgement is not a cause for celebration of heroism. What about the effect this had on the other skaters?

I just can't stand this melodrama... And Hannyu doesn't seem to mind it, either.

So this year instead of inflation we have hanyuflation. LOL

I don't get the scoring of this men's event at all!

It's killing me that Yuzuru had the highest TES...and Yuzuru got so many -3 GOE's too.

Nam had the highed TES at 80.34. Yuzuru had second-highest with 75.58 with the 5 falls, Misha had 75.42, then Maxim with 75.02. He did have the highest BV at 81.66, 76.27 for Nam, then Maxim had 74.82. :ohwell:

Dornbush underscored in pcs from what I saw (admit wasn't paying 100% attention)
scoresheet= he got rep deduction for two 3Ltz not in combo and doubles dems the rules; goe for his triples werent any less than Yuzurus

Falls can be considered as "interruptions" in a program. Consistently, skates with falls get lower PCs, along with the -1.00 deductions and - GOEs.

I generally agree with that... Kovtun's PCS made Hanyu's seems undermarked lol.. PCS is a funny beast! I swear, sometimes the judges seem more PCS challenged than the skaters.

Dornbush deserve over 80 in PCS. Misha in high 70s. Fav program Dornbush, fav performance Misha.

Hanyu missed half of his program. Kovtun not. And he skated last.
And 80 PCS for Dornbush? Okaaay. Tell me about overscoring.

I wouldn't complain about Hanyu score, because there is nothing strange in score sheet. If he had nailed 3A3T he would have won so please.... ;) And still we have same situation like yesterday. If Kovtun gets such high pcs, then Hanyu seems undermarked even with this falls  And Hanyu was punished in PCS very hard, when he will do this program cleanly he will get surely 90-91 pcs

you obviously don't understand, and will never understand the japanese way of thinking.

Not sure if I'm just being silly, but why was Misha's 3F an invalid element?

EDIT: Oh, I just realised it was the third repeated jump. But that's just silly, because it didn't look like he accidentally jumped his other repeated jumps - 3A or 3Lz. So does this mean he PLANNED to have 3 repeated jumps. :sarcasm:

Some the comments on this board is more crazy then the incidents that occurred in this event it self. From the overreacting from skater not withdrawing ( they have access to professional opinions in rather they must withdraw or not) and on Hanyu score, if Hanyu scored 10 points less in Program components he would have still been silver medalist, so it makes no difference. I will always remember this even, it was one of the most impressive events, even though it was not in the way I wanted it to be.
