2014 Cup of China Mens Free Skate 11/08

I think Yuzuru is insane. And Han Yan is insane as well. I bet they will take these boys to the same hospital. They should be in the same room. This is too much for me.

Don't care about the scores. This is a nightmare!!

well then you are in the minority. japanese love this kind of sh*t. this is the real essence of 'ganbaru'. there's nothing 'hazukashii' about it at all.

Reminds me of that male Japanese gymnast in the 70s who broke his knee at the Olympics simply because he wanted to win the gold medal for Japan.

Newsworthy for a couple of months, but now pretty much forgotten.

The most ridiculous thing ever. I hope this set a precedent so ISU discuss the stupid rule that reward falls because it were rotated.
I mean, Kozuka knows perfectly rotate a quad and fall in his butt, may be he should to try 3 quads and to do podiums.

Unfortunately Taka is just not that popular with the judges so even if he rotates and falls on his butt on those quads he still won't be scored like Hanyuu with the worst performance but rotated jumps ever will be. (I mean he even gets such low SS scores despite his clearly superb SS).

But yes, falls are falls, and should not be rewarded points anymore (no more brownie points for trying).

Yeah, unfortunately that's why instead of this mishap looking stupid and a reckless decision for Hanyuu and his team, it's now going to be glorified because he stuck it out until the end. (Plus there's really the bonus of Hanyuu being the golden boy because he won all the awards last season).

Nothings been glorified, plenty of people before him went to skate with injuries. He's not a "hero" lol. He's a typical skater who has the grit and will to get it done because that what they need to do. Look at Han Yan. He also went out and skated because he knew he had to and cause it was a home crowd.

Although IMO it is stupid of skaters to skate when they would potentially have serious injuries but I don't know him personally. I'm just assuming both of them were seriously hurt from a spectators POV

I'm concerned that Hanyu seems to put so much emphasis on this competition. He's crying as if his dkating career was on the line. It's only a GP event after all...

Well, now here comes all the people crapping on Hanyu. Sheesh. :disapp:

I notice that during events most everyone gets along then as soon as it ends it turns toxic. I'm going to sleep because my mind is already filled with terrible thoughts. No more are necassary.

He probably wants to defent his GPF title and a good placing here gives him the chanse to qualify I guess

Watching this competition I had the odd picture: What would happen if there was a competitor rotating quads like crazy but never landing them. How far would he get in this current system, if he had a bit of artistry?
That would depend on how big a reputation he has or how popular he is. The bigger the reputation, the less likely PCS will be affected by falls or popped jumps. Which is ridiculous of course, but that's how it is with judges.

He didn't have to. He could have just withdrawn and that's that.

Plushenko at Sochi. Olympics, home crowd. he didn't even think about it. Immediate decision to withdraw.

Agree these two boys need to be put in the same room and reprimanded...so are their coaches

No because he didnt put it in combination or jump sequence. He was supposed to do a 3F+2A but he left too much of a gap between.

He already did two 3A's and two 3Lz's. He could not do 3F two times. It should be only 2A.

Fallen elements should just not be counted and we'd solve out the problem. A fall it's a huge mistake and it should also have some effects on the performance mark, it's just way more distracting then an underrotation or a popped jump.

Is it possible that they could be all heroes? Just throwing a curly question.
What is a her? Is the status of hero only limited to a few?

Perhaps he has just been through too much. He wasn't happy with his SP score either, remember? He looked pale and sickly as he took the ice, skated very poorly because of his condition, has trouble making it to the K&C, then gets a decent score. I think he was crying more from too many conflicting emotions and pain
