Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

I appreciate that he obviously think he has something to prove and this can be seen in the visible improvement in this skating skills and attention to details in his performance and musicality. The humility in him will make him a better skater and keeps improving his skating regardless of the medals.
Does anyone have a picture? Of quality high enough to look at it closely.
ETA: as for the incident - horrible, shocking, but the worst is over. I've read quite a few extremely gloomy but ungrounded predictions on yuzu's health condition across the forum and got to say this is over the top. Didn't mean to sound tactless.

Aww... this is just heartbreaking. I woke up this morning eager to check the results and instead opened a web page with a photo of Yuzu's face covered with blood. For a split second I thought this was part of his costume...maybe it was really Phantom's mask...until I saw the headline.
What an utterly disappointing competition for him. I know many on this thread expressed apprehension and concern for him before the competition started and I must admit that although I usually think positively, I also had a feeling of dread. I agree with a poster that something about CoC felt "off and just not right." Seeing him so tired and pale for the SP was the first indication. Was it jet lag? It must be difficult to fly for 14+ hours to a completely different time zone and then have to compete at such a high level in a matter of two days. I seriously hope the JSF puts him at SA or SC next season so he doesn't have to start this way.
As for the decision to skate...we all know Yuzu and his determination. The heart and desire of a champion was never more evident than today. Was it Orser's fault he went out there after the collision when it seemed foolish? I think not. Yuzu is an adult and makes his own decisions. Brian clearly told him he didn't need to go out, he didn't need to be a hero, but as we saw, Yuzu would have none of it. Brave young athlete and I, if possible, admire him even more.
I think the more pertinent questions to ask are why there were no specifically trained medical doctors on the the CoC staff who could determine whether or not these boys had concussions?
Orser and Han's coach are not doctors, and should not have to make these important determinations and then later be critized for allowing their skaters to go on. The sight of Yuzu smiling in the wheelchair certainly helped to lift my spirits and it does seem he'll be ok to compete at NHK unless the doctors in Japan determine something other than what was found in Shanghai.

Obviously there are conflicting reports. We'll know more later. Maybe he and his team have no confidence in Chinese medical personnel.
From what I have heard, he went to the hospital for a while before going back to hotel. But I am not sure about it. It's 7am in Japan now and I believe we will get access to more information very soon.
Tokyo's sports medical treatment is ranked top of the world. I am trying to convince myself not to be too worried and honestly, I have abandoned doing anything for whole day after watching him in the morning.

It seems that he did not get on the ambulance and went back to hotel. He got some stitches on his chin by some doctor of the American team according to some news.
Then about the costume~I thought there's someone said she hoped the white part to be black. I think the white stands for the angel in the phantom, just like the beginning of the music, "I am the angel of music".
Interestingly, I think the music and costume of Kanako and Yuzu are both a little similar. Only that Kanako plays Christine and the phantom at the same time, while Yuzu only plays the phantom, is that right? Maybe I should watch the program sometimes more to make sure that. ORZ.

I was wondering about the medal ceremonies, do they just call the names and no one skates out? And why wasn't Julia there?
If the skater isn't in attendance, they still call out the skater's name during the ceremony. As for why Julia wasn't there, the reason her people gave was that she didn't realized it was after the event, but some people are doubtful about that being the real reason.

Thanx. What a terrible event. I rewatched his skate and I still can't focus on anything other than 'oh my god he must be in so much pain' I think I like the costume, I think I like the program, but damn if I know for sure.

It said that Julia was injured (ankle) since missing the ceremony.
Literally an emotional roller coaster ride, from the moment he took of his jacket to reveal the sparkly costume and everyone at the rink sitting up straighter to get a closer look, to a sudden an absolute low. I do like the costume too; looks like he did add the red that he likes so much and no gold! And he still used the white/ gold water bottle, so I guess Mrs. Hanyou had no time to make a new one or is silently protesting his taste? 
Will try to get myself back to the rink for the gala tonight. I wonder if Yulia is going to be there since there are reports of her ankle injury. I just remembered that she called Hanyu-kun a hero before when Japanese media interviewed her; unfortunately this event will probably up his hero status even more in her eyes. The steely stubbornness of these two!

I also am going the the exhibition later today, but I am so exhausted from the trauma of last night that I just want to return to Japan. I really do hope HY is okay and that there is no permanent injury or pain.
I know exactly how you feel; I had planned to return home not until Wednesday, thinking I can sightsee for a bit since I came all these way, thinking that I'll have fond memories of Shanghai because I'll get to see him live. But all I want to do was go home after last night.

I feel sorry for you two. I think everyone in here went through sleepless night last light. I hope they both are OK and nothing serious happen especially their head. but I understand the feeling, can't calm down a bit until they release a statement about their current condition. so drained...
I was planning to watch it last night but work called and unfortunately the hospital's cable provider don't have any of the channels and i only had my ipad. Reading the tweets and seeing the pictures was nerve wracking and I had so many feelings regarding that disastrous GP but I held my thought since there were no enough details.
Read the last 20 pages and I still think they shouldn't have skated. It was both admiring and cursing them at the same time. Were they at fault? Definitely NO. I'm not so familiar with Han's but Yuzu's strength and flaw is his stubborness. With the pressure of his titles, his country's expectations, fan's expectation, his expectation and the adrenaline from the collision I doubt he would stop skating. Is BOrser at fault? Maybe a little but our boy's mindset is difficult to move, it would probably be feasible for Brian to bend metal than to change Yuzuru's mind. Is the ISU and federations at fault? For me, YES. If they used their "authority" and put their foot down and told them NO then there's nothing the skater and his team can do.
The reports aren't quite clear yet but I hope Han & Yuzu did went to the hospital, Yuzu should have been kept at least overnight until his flight to Japan. Basing on the video, his head injury risk seems to fall on the low category but medicine is not an exact science. It looked like he wasn't concussed but I'd rather gear towards the side of caution than make a mistake. There are some injuries that would take hours or days to manifest. I just hope he would listen for once with what the medical team will tell him after today.
On the bright side of things, I liked the costume and the music cuts. I can't say much about the program but there's a glimmer of what could be. His season just begun but I'm more stressed compared to the last 4 years already.
