Hopefully he'll withdraw from NHK so he can rest. One GP season isn't worth risking more injury. He's still got until 2018 (Please let it be without bionic parts like his idol)
At least a bruised bone isn't a fractured bone.
Now go rest, you wild kid! You made me took an advil and a shot of vodka that night, that was how much that incident got to me
I think it is related to skull , it's a bone contusion, it doesn't involve the brain. I remember Yuzu was bleeding from his head too, where the wound took place there's also the bone contusion.
I found a more in depth discussion on the translation of 'contusion' here . It seems like they mostly mean bruising.
Thank you. I'm a bit thankful Ladies event went first, because Kana's reactions reminded me a lot of that time of the earthquake. She was on a competition if I'm not mistaken but was worried about what happened to him. Team Japan was actually afraid he might be one of the casualties because there was no news of him until about 3 days later?
Forgive my english.
I roughly read the article. And i think it says that the result will be released today(on the 10th) as opposed to in ten days. And that JSF usually only has doctors to accompany team Japan when there is a relatively large no. of skaters attending(world and junior world stated in the article)
After what happened to hanyu, they will reconsider the matter. But due to budget problem, it is not feasible to have doctors accompanying each and every team attending overseas competition. However, it is possible that in the future, they will assign a doctor to accompany more highly-ranked skaters such as hanyu.
I hope I am just understanding it wrong or something lost in translation, and that someone with more medical experience can clear this up.
To my understanding, a cranial contusion is still bruising of the brain just that it is more easily caught than a concussion due to the size.
But, I'm with you Meoima hopefully it really is just the very outside of the head.
Edit: Really sorry guys. I got scared when I read bruising of the head.
Highly-ranked skaters. There is not an ounce of bias in that statement from JSF.![]()
Really hoping they meant the outside of the brain and not on the brain. Wikipedia has given me a very frightening definition: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cerebral_contusion

That would be a horrifying position to be in. Team Japan has practically grown up together so its obvious they care about each other deeply. To just think for a moment that someone you know could have been seriously hurt or worse, thats frightening. I'm glad that the reports don't indicate any major injuries. He needs to take a very long rest.
Am just back from shanghai... though the post has moved on since The day of collision (I have no internet access whilst in shanghai), allow me to just pen my thoughts.
Its my first trip to see an ice skating competition and it sure was traumatic. My sentiments are exactly the same as KansaiPJ and Firal. Watched some details in youtube now and could not help feeling depressed all over again, especially seeing him wiping his tears before his performance.
For first timer, COC is not a good choice to attend. Not so much because of what has happened, but like the others have commented, the crowd is kinda strange.... old folks walking around looking for best spot to practice their photography (flashed !!) etc. its disturbing to other spectators and am sure to the competitors as well. I hope the Chinese organiser will stop this for Words 2014.
And on his performance, I love his costume and in a strange way, his injuries added drama. Not an expert in figure skating scoring and hence not sure if his scores is justified. I have mixed feelings about him getting second place though....on one hand am happy for him but on the other, worried as it gave him a chance of qualifying for GPF, which means he may still push himself to compete in NHK !
My friend tell me this is something about Yuzuru's condition, but my Japanese is not enough to understand: http://matome.naver.jp/odai/2141560604896971701
Any Japanese poster, help? Thank you in advance.
