Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

Honestly, Yuzuru and Mao are the only two skaters in my life, who put me so much emotional by their performances. The only two who made me cry by their performances.
I think that that’s the main reason I have been cheering for them continuously.
Personally after what happened at COC, I don’t care his scores and medals anymore, no matter whether he minds it or not. I simply love watching his skating, and I am sure he(and Mao) love skating from the bottom of their hearts. All that I can do might watch over the progress with care though, I will continue to see the way ,what he will do.

Oddly enough, it's Daisuke Takahashi who makes me cry...and Yuzu who makes me smile.
There is something resilient about Hanyu that makes me feel that everything is going to be okay, Hanyu is going to be fine.
-Even when things are horrible, like at COC, I could tell that he was already working on a plan in his head. He tries to always put his mind in a positive place. So, though he was crying after the collision, he was also determined not to let anything stop him.
I get more fragile feelings from Daisuke... so I'm apt to start crying whenever I see him on the ice.
I could be totally wrong though.

I recalled Brian signalled to the therapist to calm down because he was crying beside Yuzu (around the time before 2nd warm-up). Brian knew that Yuzu already has a plan, was determined to finish it and gather whatever points he can. Considering the circumstances, Yuzu got nothing to lose (apart from making the injury worst).

And he picked himself up every time after a fall and continued to skate his revised layout, he was not even rattled..a truly fearless one! Reminded me of Tracy Wilson comment at World 2012. He just continued to skate (and sing ) with such abandonment

I wish him a full recovery and hopefully he is not going to made to perform at 50 ice shows next year.

Sorry but I can't seem to watch any of these. Is it a problem on my side or was it already deleted? Maybe a password is required now. I'd appreciate if someone can help me :)

edit: Ups I read your message too late and already posted this. Sorry to hear that they just took your stuff. I'll be patiently waiting :)

On another note I really wanted to thank everyone on the updates. I've been really worried about the incident and I still feel horrible recalling the scenes. I'm so incredibly relieved that he didn't sustain any serious damages. Hopefully Yuzu recovers well and does not rush things.

Hi guys!

I can't view the video unfortunately, and I've been dying to watch the press conferences! Could somebody pretty please kindly give me another link or a password?

Many thanks and hugs for all your help in advance,

-Poohzuru

The Therapist also cried?! Was this Mr. Massage man?

Awwww I just wanna give Yuzu and everyone else a hug :( Yuzu could make anyone cry.

Oh Yuzuru has that effect on me too whenever he skates under adverse circumstances (2012, 2013, and 2014 Worlds FP, 2014 COC FP. At the last tears were just streaming down my face and my heart was in my mouth every time he fell, fearful he might never get up again). What moves me is his utter passion and commitment, skating as if his very life depends on it, a libation to the fickle skating gods.

BTW Ana (WhateverHime) has compiled several of Yuzuru's Kiss and Cry Moments (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMpcSQAjIZc), including hugs with Nanami and handshakes with and pats on the shoulder from Brian. Thanks Ana!

Awww that video made me so proud of Yuzu :D I love his reactions!

Thank you for the link! How I wish all of those will still be in Osaka next year! And :laugh:on the girly handwriting.

Same thing here. And to add to that list is the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami. Oh, me and my poor heart, I wish it did not have to be every single darn year. :bang: And I hope for nothing more of this drama in 2015 until the years to come.

My perception of Yuzuru Hanyu: I think he's TOO ambitions. . ; and set too high standards for himself that most of the times he can't fullfill heavens knows why. Basically he's trying "too hard" in every way ... And everything in excess can cause damage. Of course he's got terrific technnical abiility, of course he wants to grown his presentation ability and we can see that he's improved a lot during summer. But he set his programs in a level so high, especially with his LP layout, that the chances of seeing him do a clean competition probably will be once in a lifetime ... I honestly think he genuinely wants to complete the programs but in all realness what is the probability that this will happen? And that sucks; if he keeps doing flawed programs his qualities will be downplayed by anyone watching him wether he likes it or not. I don't see him gaining consistency anytime soon because his technnical content most likely won't let this happen ... And he seems to be not the type that lower BV, which is a pity. Sometimes you need to take a step back. For me, clean programs are the key for everything, they can make a full carreer.. I prefer much more, a clean program with lowered BV like Machida's even if his style is not my favourite (overdramatic much .. ) than a disruptive program. This reminds me how Yuna was criticized when she came back for the Olympics because her content was lower, but she knew her own abilities and set her programs accordinly. I think Hanyu's character is more like Mao's, she was also criticized but for the opposite, for her high BV. I'm glad the time that she could complete the program was her now legendary Sochi FS; but she suffered a ton through the years due to inconsistency. Was it worth it? I don't know. Some may appreciate this stubborness and view this a "strong character", but my opinion is that it's pulling him down; he's got a ton of potential but I fear this attitude will cease this potentital because his improvements will be burried under flawed performances... and only highlights the score inflation that will most definitely occur. His decision at COC kind of even have strenghten this perception for me. This is only my opinion though and sort of an outside view, feel free to disagree.

1. He is TOO ambitious. To the point that he can't see straight his own ability too

Yes he is too ambitious, no one can deny that BUT I beg to disagree that he can't see his own ability. Yuzuru has demonstrated several times how he can objectively see himself and I think if there is someone out there who knows what he can do, that would be Yuzu himself.

2.[I ]He set too high standards for himself that most of the times he can't fullfill heavens knows why. [/I]

He set those standards because he wants to grow, he knows he can do it BUT when & how he'll be able to do it is the actual question. Hanyu is an analytic kind of person, he likes to "solve" problems and go looking for various solutions. He thirst for "knowledge". Who can actually say he can't do it? The key to this is a healthy Hanyu (mentally & physically).

One thing that endeared him to me actually is this "reckless desire to do things at the best of his abilities", maybe because I hate the feeling of mediocrity when I know I can actually do better. But I think he does know how to back down (as we know he did adjusted his layout ) just that HIS definition and OUR definition are not the same. We were in the same page but different paragraphs.

I would love to see him do a clean program BUT I hate to quell his spirit.

Just found this, This ex practice video is so cute! MC:"Gentlemen, it's time to leave" and Yuzu and Kozuko still playing on the ice <3 love to see skaters messing around like this sometimes.

Thanks for sharing your thought Maria Victoria.

As for the video, The 百面相 of Yuzuru in Kiss&Cry moments are fun to see.
Good old days Yuzu with Nanami Abe.
It even shows us how he has grown and to be a man during the past 5 years :D

I hope Hanyu gets well before NHK.. he probably will only have like 3-4 days to practice at his home rink with Nanami Abe
Orser will be in Japan in the middle of next week, ao I don't think Yuzuru will work with Nanami Abe this time. After all his new routines were designed by Orser team, so Orser knows it better.
