Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

How you watch NHK Trophy live onlie?

You can check the 2014 NHK Trophy threads under the 2014-2015 Skating Competitions, 2014-2015 Senior Grand Prix section not just for links but also for PBP. :)

so according to news Yuzuru unofficial practice has just started ? after that final decision will be made

Oh yes, that mysterious closed-door practice. So has the final, final decision already come out yet (although I am thinking it may be a mere formality so the JSF can invoke due diligence)?

To be frankly it's not easy to find skaters with the same star quality as Yuzuru. He might be not their only option but without him I doubt that they can fill the arena Like they are doing now. NHk tickets were sold out within 3 minutes. CoC during Yuzuru's FS and Kiss&Cry moment obtained 31,8% rating in Japan TV, even higher than World at Saitama.

I don't dismiss other young skaters' talents from Japan. But Yuzuru is very unique when it comes to star quality. To be fair I don't think Japan fans care much about medals in the next Olympic, you know. They will just support their skaters no matter what. Mao is a huge idol in Japan, but she didn't land on World podium every year. In 2012 it's Akiko who won the medal at Worlds, yet Mao has been still the bigger figure. Many Japanese FS fans love Jeremy Abbot despite his poor performances at world stage. Attraction is very difficult to explain.

Anyways, It's not that easy for Yuzuru or any other Japanese skater to medal at the next Olympic despite how talented/ hard working they might be. It's not possible to tell how he will do when it's needed. But even if he just does well or even very well, it's still not guaranteed for him at all. Don't forget it is going to be in Korea. We all know nationalism might do a lot in those occasions.

I am not that delusional to believe that he will win the next Olympic no matter what. But being an Olympian twice is his dream and I hope JSF don't take him fro granted. He needs to be at the next Olympic because that's his dream.

Me too. I think Yuzu unreplacable. I do hope Yuzu will win next Olympic. Then he will be the first one who wins Olympic for twice, right? Sorry that I am Yuzu fan rather than a figure skating fan. One of Yuzu most attractive thing is that no matter how wonderful or amazing he is now, you can expect more from him! I feel he is not only one “normal” Olympic champion. (No offense to all other Olympic champions.) But I just feel he is the one who will push this sport move forward, let this sport become more popular and make history on it. Yuzu said at one interview at age of 16 that being Olympic champion is just one beginning for his dream. I do not only believe in he will win second Olympic golden medal, (Of course, it is not easy way. Not for granted because he won Sochi’s. Due to CoC collision, he encountered new kind of difficult time and it is just the beginning of this season.) but also believe in he will jump 4a! I also believe in he will bring us memorable moving performances, and after many years, people will still talk about by saying wow, at that time, people already could arrive at such high level .It seems that Tracy said Yuzu can jump look like out of this world. I cannot be more agreed that someone said he was kind of athlete that you can just meet one of your lifetime. I have watched one certain documentary / TV program about after earthquake, Yuzu thought of giving up figure skating since at the time even normal life cannot be secure, figure skating is one luxury to afford. I wondered why we needed it so much. One talented excel man can jump 4 rounds even 5 rounds, what does it mean to us, we normal people? We even might lack of enough daily sports practicing. But that does mean. Just as important as art: like the masterpieces of music, painting or literature. Japanese values grit and hardworking, especially at not very optimistic environment. As one normal Chinese, I am sympathized. (Can I say actually we are in much worse situation? At least JP is one developed country.) People can get courage and hope just by looking at Yuzu making efforts, then we normal people who not in optimistic environment, we will be refueled to face and overcome our own suffering or difficulties. It is a privilege to know Yuzu. So when he retires, it is totally different. With his good looking and talent at performance, he still can be star as actor, and he might achieve success at new area. As one athlete fighting for next Olympic, it is probably more meaningful for fans than Yuzu himself. By the way, I also feel that Yuzu did not refuse so many commercial shows from JSF, because he think of fans more than himself including his goal and dream.

It seems Yuzuru is officially IN: http://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20141126-00000068-dal-spo
He succeeded quad jumps(4T and 4S) in the unofficial practice.

I have just finished the damn test for my students. Then he finished his test. oh... my fragile heart. From twitter: Yuzuru was able to land his quads and 3A. Although there is still some pain in both legs. :hopelessness:

....Crazy Yuzu T_T I guess there's no stopping him. I mean he didn't withdraw during CoC. I don't think "some pain in both legs" will stop him.

T_T Being his fan is so hard~

Little fearless samurai still in action! please take care of yourself!!:bow:
GOOOOO YUZUUUUU!

( I 'm desperately waiting for Hana Wa Saku!!) :)

come on, it looks like he's laughing after he "fled" from the other skater. I'm not saying that you can't be "traumatized" by such an experience, but am I really the only one who thinks that he might've been just joking here?

Well, he may be laughing at himself for reacting like that (ducking). :) In any case, good he can be light-hearted about it.

I think that was Ross Miner skating by and he was really active with hands so Yuzu had to sit down and cover his head but his reaction was not a fear, I'm with you on that. He will be more cautious than usual for a while and that is a normal reaction for anyone.
