Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

There are two way of writing "zu" in japanese, 「ず」and「づ」one is a "su"-variation and the other a "tsu"-variation, in yuzuru's name you use the "tsu"-variation, which is, when typed on computer usually a "du". So I guess it's a japanese fan's fan art?

I haven’t noticed that until you had suggested it to…
Actually we use the “tsu” variation in Yuzuru’s name. but I usually do type his name like “Yui-gen” because of the Kanji [結弦],
which is not a common kanji as a name for [ゆづる].
so I usually don’t use a “du” at all….. plus probably it was the first time to see someone described him “YUDURU” no matter where they came from.
Anyways, thank you for letting me know that

on a side note, There is hardly any hope him quit 4S :rolleye:

I am just :bang: :bang: :bang: about 4S. Why Yuzuru, why ?

This is a constant thought that I have. I think that even when he's at good condition he shouldn't add it, or do it when the jump becomes consistent like Javier Fernandez. However, if he went to the Olympics with the 4S he will go anywhere and beyond with it, I bet

The thing is that he does beautiful and fairly consistent 4S in practice. He just can't ever get it done well in competition. It's probably a jump that he's just gonna have to keep going for until he can get it in competition. With the point value and fall rule the way they are now, Hanyu will keep going for it without losing too much in TES. However, even if the rules became harsher, I still think Hanyu would keep going for the 4S. He's endearingly stubborn
Like HanDomi, I want Hanyu to drop the 4S for NHK because of his injury, but that would completely change his jump layout. Seems a little too late to change his jump layout so drastically - worse case would be him Zayaking.

It's gonna be amazing! I am leaving work early so I get get there in plenty of time. Go Yuzuru! :cheer:

Have a good time!

Gosh he is just as well spoken as I remembered. It amazes me every time I remember he is not yet 20. If you know anything about Japanese than you'd appreciate the changes in grammar/forms he employed when speaking at that press con. I am going through all the videos on dailymotion now. It seems from that full transcript that he spoke for a long time and going into very detail things; I wonder if everyone (or if other skaters) also did that much talking? He said he knows people are criticizing JSF and his coach, but he wants to thank them for respecting his decision.

It is true that he is not 100% physically, but then, just like one of the video interviewing a former Japanese skater, only a very small percentage of athletes go out in perfect condition.

I don't know...I feel even more nervous than I was during COC.....changing layout is a clever decision for him; but in turn, it worries me like a red flag...he always insisted on completing planned layout despite any injuries didn't he?

Huh what else happened in the official practice? I thought he was landing most if not all of his jumps except for some of his quads? He seems to be okay... not the best but not the worst as well...

Let's trust in our boy. I am not looking for record-breaking scores from him just that he will do his best under the circumstances. Of course I will also be praying that nothing untowards happens to him or the other competitors.

I agree. Yuzu fans, please stop sending worries and negative energy his way. It's simply not helping him.
Instead please think about how great it will be for him to compete again so soon after the crash. :points: Focus on the fact that he will be fine and we'll see him (most likely) at GPF, Japanese Nationals and Worlds. Lots to look forward to! :party2:

I agree, it does not do anything good to be worrywarts at this point. Ganbatte kudasai Yuzuru! Skate safe and clean!!! :cheer::cheer2:

Okay getting so anxious for Yuzuru now. Sending prayers and positive vibes to him so we will (finally this season) see a happy Yuzuru in the Kiss and Cry. Go Yuzuru!

Yes, believe in him! With Yuzuru, I feel like a bad practice will only motivate him more to skate well. Remember worlds 2013 and 2014, he had a bad practice and warm-up, but that didn't stop him from delivering a good LP skate.

This ^

He does what he wants, and he wants to skate.

Nobody can stop him... so it's better to get behind him, think positive - the support of his fans gives him strength.
